here's footage of some of the next major level in the game: "All's Fair in Fun Fair"! the music playing in the background is a placeholder piece, being "Wheel" from the old Gang Beasts OST! progress overall has been super good, i'm getting a lot of new features and mechanics in as well as polishing up things overall and patching any bugs that had come up during playtesting!
i think with how well game development has been going, this officially marks my unceremonious transition into indie game dev for my job as opposed to primarily doing animation! i've found i just really struggle with animating these days between the process, expectations, and slight trauma i have regarding it, to the point where it just isn't sustainable full-time anymore. even just doing the little bit of animation required for sprites in my games is pretty exhausting and un-fun doing them the way i'd always been doing them, to the point where i'm now drawing things with my mouse just to shake things up a bit.
that said, i'm going full steam ahead on "fella land", or what's now been titled "One Greedy Furball"! I've decided for the time being to put foxhood on the back burner as i focus exclusively on this game, just because while foxhood is something im capable of working on, it takes significantly more effort and time than im really comfortable with doing long-term right now compared to One Greedy Furball. so the current goal is to get a chunky demo of One Greedy Furball done now by June! from there my options are to get the demo out for foxhood by winter, or go all-in on finishing the full game of One Greedy Furball depending on how i'm feeling when the demo's done!
now, as for the actual progress updates! i've gotten a bunch of level mechanics in for the second fun fair-themed level of the game! the whole theme of this area is moving platforms, as well as a balloon-head transformation that behaves similar to the head inflation transformation from wario land! i've also got a little animation done for the main character, furball! the larger thing i'd been working on given it'll be present throughout the entire game is the main menu and save system! it's pretty simple to make, just a bit technical, so it's best to get it out of the way sooner than later so i can focus on the actual content of the game. (the logo and overall graphics are VERY temporary!)

also, the ferris wheels have their carriages automatically generated and colored through code, dynamically adjusting itself based on the size of the wheel and how many carriages are assigned to them! just something i thought would be neat to show in terms of "tools for level design"!

i was also considering making a simple little video to post publicly on youtube some time within the next month! it'd be a clip compilation of both foxhood and one greedy furball set to a cool track made by one of my good friends for foxhood, followed by a brief explanation of my transition into game dev and a more thorough explanation of both foxhood and greedy furball as well as their influences!
