Fearshaper announcement

Hi all!

I come with some sad news for those of you reading Fearshaper – I’ll be putting the series on hiatus to shift my focus to Ghostslayer and some other ideas that I have floating around.

Unfortunately, the brutal reality of serial writing (especially when you’re trying to turn it into a living) is that if a series doesn’t take off on either Royal Road or Amazon, it’s usually best for the author to take whatever lessons they learned from it and bring them to their next series.

Fearshaper was my very first shot at writing, and I’m very grateful to all of you who stuck through the peaks and troughs of the story (and it definitely has its fair share of flaws).

That’s not to say that I won’t be picking it up again in the future, but I also don’t want to make any promises that I can’t keep, and I thought it would be better to be honest and upfront to help you manage your expectations.

As a bit of a thank you, I’ve dropped the final 10 chapters so you’ll be able to binge to the end of book 2 of Fearshaper. I sincerely hope you give them a read, I’m proud of the twists and turns the story has built up to, and I hope you see book 2 to its end!

Thank you for your support, you were my very first readers, and you got me through the challenges of finding my feet as a newbie writer. I hope Shiver, Vale and Caledon's adventures entertained you and brought you some joy.

I’ll always be grateful for your support, and I hope you give my second fic Magical Girl Ghostslayer a chance!

Well pretty sad to hear the story (likely) ends here. As a small review, i always thought the story was pretty original, i liked many concepts and the writing quality was for RR in the top tiers (from what i read). Later on there were more comments tropes and i got a bit lost (but more because of my lacking english skills), but i still enjoyed the read. I have not started reading into the magical girl story because (based on the description) i am not too interested but i will stay followed and see what comes… For now its a temporary goodbye from me (i know i only commented ones so i am Not known XD ). Merry Christmas and only love 🫡

It's an honour to read your very first story - thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with us. All the best for your future writing endeavours :)

Thanks Matt! I think the general approach is to try to write an on genre story so that you can build enough of a sustainable following to explore other projects. Since I'd like to dedicate as much time as I can to the writing, I'm currently trying to work to releasing stories which can help fund/drive my others! If I ever do get to that stage, I'll absolutely take on Plum's Strat to manage multiple fics :)

I recommend following plums rulebook, and writing/releasing chapters for each story on specific days.
