Update 3/28/23: Plannings, Doings, and Ramblings

Yodels! It's me again!

I've been busy hunting applying bugfixes to a number of things--nothing as gamebreaking as the circumstances of the initial 0.7 build, but stuff that certainly should be addressed, like dialogues/reactions not playing for some characters (Penny...) and the candy calorie multiplier going absolutely wild for a character (also Penny, somehow), or things like interactive objects "turning"/breaking when spoken to, NPCs that be repeatedly eaten, that kinda thing.  Unsexy bugfixes.  Also modified the Eat skill, as it was brought to my attention that it could be used to gain Fullness when used on enemies who weren't weak.  Feels like I've had to mess with it every major update...  Fingers crossed this one works.  Having tested it, it seems okay, but the people making a thing are generally terrible at actually testing it, so the jury's still out.

Beyond bugfixes, I've been importing the Phase 2 maps into Phase 3, which is unfortunately a big pain.  Not as much as remaking them from scratch, but still...

The irritation comes from how rpgmaker presents the maps to the creator.  Essentially, you can add sub-maps to maps, like how one can add bulletpoints to an itemized list in a word processor.  Maker allows one to add sub-maps... probably infinitely, I suppose.  And, lest you get overwhelmed by your infinitely sub-map-chain, you can collapse them all into the map above, e.g., you can collapse them all into the initial one, if you wanted to, in the map editor.

You can also copy maps, which is what I've been doing.

UNFORTUNATELY, copying a parent map does not copy the child... Meaning, if I want to import the phase 2 maps into phase 3, then I need to manually copy and paste each one.  And, well.... That's a lot now, haha.  Furthermore, I need to adjust the map-change objects (the clouds of smoke, or doorways) of the new phase 3 maps, so that they actually transfer you to the correct location, or else you'll end up back in Phase 2.

....This was a problem back when I first added Phase 2, too.  Hopefully, I'm a little more on the ball this time, but lots of minutae to track leads me to dread the instances that slip through.

...ANYWAY.

All that aside, I'd preemptively made a number of assets for Phase 3 (read: enemy art) so I should be good on that for a bit.  So the work going into this next part of Phase 3 will be mostly eventing, making NPCs and quests and junk.

Being that Phase 3 is the start of the second half of the game, the plot needs to start doing things! Having escaped the Ham, Kui now really really really wants to beat up/eat Mayor Ricconnell, and maybe also figure out why he's got such a hate boner for fat women, while also commanding an army of cannibal cops.  Despite knowing exactly where he is, sorta, Kui isn't fat enough to break into the Mayoral Mansion without assistance.  The faction you've joined is more than willing to help you out, but you gotta do stuff for them first--meaning, more quests.

After completing 3(of 4) quests for the Cult or GAIN (and 4 if you sided with Expa), you'll be tasked with eliminating the lesser enemy faction base.  That is to say that if you've joined the Cult, you're attacking a GAIN base, and vice-versa if you're with GAIN, and both if you're with Expa.  These bases will function as dungeons like the Ham, perhaps moreso even, culminating in a boss fight with the one in charge...

Although "in charge" is a relative term!

If you joined GAIN and recruited Jamie, Phoebe will be the boss of the Cult base.  And if you joined GAIN and recruited Phoebe, Jamie will be the boss instead!

(If you recruited neither, then it'll also be Phoebe)

And if you joined the Cult and didn't recruit Ming, then Ming will have joined up with GAIN.

(And yes, Phoebe and Ming share the same root image.  Gotta save time where I can).

If the event you joined the Cult AND recruited Ming, well... I haven't figured that out yet.  Maybe I'll just make it a generic GAIN operative for now...

At any rate, these are the things I'm kicking around right now.

See you folks next update!

You Can’t get to Farmington Farms in phase 1

Hm, for those boss fights of the GAIN and Cult bases, you specified if you join GAIN you fight Phoebe or Jamie, and if you join the Cult you'll fight Ming, or a generic GAIN Trooper. If you join EXPA, will you be taking on both bases? I'd make suggestions for alternates to Ming, but I don't know what your later plans are for the rest of the characters. I have a weird idea for how it could be Bertha as the alternate for Ming, with the justification of Bertha not being there if you didn't recruit Ming because Ming just ate her, but I also understand why you wouldn't want to make more art for Bertha anyway.
