Update 2/13/22: Revisions!
Added 2022-02-13 18:56:39 +0000 UTCAs a consequence of my more fleshed-out combat ambitions, I've had to think about how I want to implement that information into the game. In the earlier builds, I had a little evented "tutorial book" at the start, that was kinda clunky... But, now that I have a better idea of what I'm aiming for, I'm conveying that information more directly.

Basically, I'm just eventing certain encounters--nothing fancy, but it's better than having a bunch of gameplay mechanics thrown at you sans context. I've also taken this opportunity to rewrite the opening... It's drifted a bit away from the original interactive's "alright, story's started, you eat people now 'cuz you're hungry" origins, but it's not too dissimilar, I hope.




To that end, the player will even have some input for personalization, beyond just a name...



"Favorite Fruit" indeed... lol. And naturally, those choices *will* have gameplay consequences...

Ooo, this is getting deep! I love it! I'd say apples but a good fruit salad would have all 3. ;) But as for candy... Maybe marshmallows, since they're softest? Can't wait to see how I've just doomed myself! And the use of the weird blue fairy is a nice touch, I kinda liked her tired look somehow.
