"Oh so do I put my finger in like this? Or like this? Or perhaps like this?" says the patron as he continuously put his index finger in and out of the new tavern girl's navel.

The shy new girl got her first patron. The patron is quite easygoing and not too pushy and sort of let the girl 'guide' him through the process by acting like he's a first timer, when he is in fact, a regular.

One of the perks of being a regular is that sometimes when the tavern hires a new girl, the tavern master will employ the help of these few regulars to help the new girls ease into the work. Sometimes the tavern gets patrons that are a little difficult to handle, and not all of the girls are ready to handle them, especially the new ones. These regulars help the new girls by just being easygoing and generally nice without being too rough.

This process is something not all of the staff are aware of, save for the madame and other more senior tavern girls. Even those who are aware of this are not told about it, but its something they eventually learn through observing how things work after a while.

Needless to say, the shy new girl gained some experience and a little confidence from this clever scheme by the tavern master!
