Chronicles of Riddick

Comments

I was hoping you'd watch the unrated extended cut of the movie. In the extended version, after Riddick takes the ship from Toombs, Riddick is narrating and then you start hearing a woman narrating and Riddick sees the woman walking to him. She's either a ghost or a vision or both and her background looks like their Furyan planet. The part where Riddick goes flying and lands on the walk way passed out and jack thinks he's dead, in the extended cut, Riddick goes flying and then gets back, but then the vision of the woman is back with her Furyan planet background. She puts her hand on Riddick's chest and a blast of energy sends the Necromonger army flying and then RIddick is passed out. I think the Necromongers take Jack instead of Jack going freely. Also at the end of the movie when the army bow to Riddick, the movie ends to the camera cutting to Riddick and Riddick says "You keep what you kill" and then cuts to black and credits. I don't know if anyone mentioned but there's an anime movie Dark Fury. It takes place after Pitch Black and before The Chronicles of RIddick. It even has the actress who played Jack in Pitch Jack as the voice of Jack. I think the reason the movie flopped, not just because it came out around the same time as Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. The whole movie was advertised as Riddick fighting the Necromongers, but in the second act, the story diverts in an entirely different direction to this prison planet. And the third movie isn't any better.

Can't wait for you to get to the next one!!!

This is one of my favorite movies i just love the space gothic vibe .Just like others have posted The Directors cut is a must see for more lore and backstory. Also the third movie Riddick is a must see.

When are y’all doing child’s play 3, crank 2, and f&f Tokyo drift?

I think I actually saw this movie first before I saw "Pitch Black", so it was crazy going backwards for me. This is one of the movies where the Director's Cut is almost a whole different movie than the theatrical cut. New plotlines, new dialogue, and a completely different experience. I'm not going to say which one is better since they're different enough that they're two different TYPES of movie. If you're in the mood for More Lore, there was SO MUCH written about the backstory and mythology of the Necromongers and the rest of society when they were making this film. The DVD had an option to show Pop-Up Trivia while the movie plays, and they had backstories for everything including the individual ships that appear on-screen. If you ever decide to rewatch this on your own I recommend turning it on for fun just to see ALL of the detail. There's an animated short film "The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury", which served as a bridge between "Pitch Black" and this film. It's canon and shows what happened when they actually got off the darkness planet. It's got the original cast, including Rhiana Griffith as Jack instead of Alexa Davalos (I happen to really like Alexa Davalos, but I still wish they hasn't recast the part for this film).

imo its the best one. Its like the first two movies were experimental, and the third was the culmination of what worked best for the character. Excited to see how they improve even further for the 4th movie

"I would play the shit out of this game" well.. good news and bad news George. They made a game and it was actually pretty dang good, ESPECIALLY for the time. Bad news is in 2025 its nearly as dated as the CGI in this movie... nearly

Godrick

The third film Narnia is not bad either

Jon Burrows

They cut out such a good scene explaining the furyan power. Think it's only in the director's cut.

I played it and it was indeed very fun. First person shooter with some stealth aspects.

Vengeance

Wow this movie went into a complete different direction than what i was expecting

Since y’all kept referencing video games while watching, I’m not sure if it’s available anywhere still, but there was a 2004 game called Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay that I never personally played, but had GLOWING reviews and is still very well thought of. You could probably track down a copy somewhere. Maybe go back to the old Cinebinge days and play it on the channel once you’re done with the films (a la the Red Dead days).

My favored bit of trivia from IMDb Vin Diesel wanted Dame Judi Dench to play Aereon, and went to great lengths to get her. A long-time fan of Dench, he had her dressing room filled with bouquets of flowers, and also advised her that they could not begin casting the movie until she agreed to accept the role.

Too bad its "only" the theatrical Version...shpuld have watched the Director's Cut which is way bettet than this already awesome movie... There are a lot of minutes explainimg the lore of the furyans and what theblord marshall did to them. On Crematoria before he is saved by the purifyer he getd a vision from Furya and a woman (George if you thought Dame Vaako was hot you will find her superhot) who explains what fueyans are what happened to them and especially him and she helps him unlock the "Furyan Rage"...while on the vision you see im the background a planet supposed to be furya covered with tombstones. Maybe you can watch it again. An if you liked the outfits and sets so much you should try to find the making offs which were ob the special edition DVDs and bluray. Vin Diesel showed the sets and like a child on christmas eve he was soo giddy about the sets amd really proud of it. The next movie called just Riddick you really really shoould watch it as the Directors Cut. It goes a bit back to the Pitch Black roots but some of the killing there are really really creative...nonsense but nevertheless some funny and creative but all creative.
