Reviving Rapid-Fire Interviews With 176 Questions About Astro Bot

Back in 2014 we were brainstorming video ideas at Game Informer in preparation for the cover story trip to highlight No Man's Sky. At a certain point an exasperated JeffM said "Just ask them if you can ride a dinosaur!" That led to us volleying dozens and dozens of questions to Hello Games' Sean Murray and the beginning of Rapid-Fire Interviews at Game Informer. They were so fun to write, record, and edit and they became the highest-viewed series for the outlet. I was heartbroken to leave the format behind when I started MinnMax in 2019 but they valiantly kept it rolling. Now with Game Informer's brutal end it's a shame to leave a fun interview format behind, right?

We're reviving the Rapid-Fire Interview series at MinnMax to highlight upcoming games and developers. Leo Vader and Ben Hanson (hello, that's me) will be alternating as interviewers and we're pulling questions from the old Game Informer crew and the new MinnMax crew to help fuel these things. These won't be replacing our long-form interviews here at MinnMax. To help reintroduce folks to the rapid-fire format, on Monday we surfaced this unaired Rapid-Fire Interview that we recorded in 2018 with Ben Reeves and Blizzard's Sam Didier. https://youtu.be/ZbcHiLSsb-g

We are incredibly thankful that we can kick off our NEW Rapid-Fire Interview series at MinnMax with a game we're all so excited to play: Astro Bot. We got to ask Astro Bot's creative director Nicolas Doucet 176 questions about the PS5 game releasing on September 6th. The big thing we want to emphasize with y'all is that we love this format AND the higher the views are on this Astro Bot Rapid-Fire the bigger games we can lock down for Rapid-Fire Interviews in the future. So any and all help sharing this fun Astro Bot interview online is greatly appreciated - https://youtu.be/MoUq073Pp7I

Also, if you're a nerd for video production or just really curious about Astro Bot - if you're at the $10 Backstage Pass tier you can watch the raw, unedited version of this interview (50 minutes) that includes a bunch of unused questions. It's available in the Backstage Pass channel in the Discord, let us know if you have any questions about how to access that. If you jump up to the Backstage Pass tier before August 29th, we'll DM you a Steam code (your pick) for Cat Quest 3, Wayfinder, or more! This is only for folks who upgrade their tier.

As always, thanks so much for supporting independent games media and for building us a new home here at MinnMax for Rapid-Fire Interviews. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're eager for us to cover next.

You can check out the archive of Rapid-Fire Interviews on Game Informer's YouTube channel (while it lasts) - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoAFmgzYW18IMhKnRvV31cyEpvLk6nHdh

Here's Leo Vader and Ben Hanson (me, again) eating a nice breakfast while writing questions for the Astro Bot Rapid-Fire interview. Feel free to follow MinnMaxShow on Instagram for a daily look behind-the-scenes, by the way. https://www.instagram.com/minnmaxshow

Ha, I've thought of it. But no promises.

This was GOLD. Any chance you'll revive/continue the Great Game Informer RELEASE DATE Calendar?? Nobody does it better... could be good website traffic or something? :')

skatestreets.game

I'm actually doing the AstroBot speed run games right now.

I've never seen this format before. Loved it and hope it does well enough to keep it going!

KickinIt

I did not expect how funny this would be. Great interview.
