New Episode online - Blacksmith's Vise Restoration

Hey guys!

Sorry for the long break. A new video is online and two other videos will follow quite soon. I found a new great source for stuff to fix in videos and I also found a lot of new inspiration there and with a place that I'm helping to build for friends at the moment. This is the first of three videos I made based on stuff I found at a nearby scrapyard. A GERMAN version of this video will go online in a few hours as well. I hope you will like this. Thank you all for your sup...

Update Video now on Youtube

Hey guys I just uploaded an update-video on Youtube. As you know, I tried to upload these videos on vid.me and Facebook, but vid.me is going out of business. So long story short: The update videos are back on youtube. Cheers, Gerolf

After a horrible week, (first a bad cold and now a  salmonella infection) I'm glad to present a new video. Enjoy!

Retro-TV + Raspberry Pi = Awesome

Here in Cologne I have been able to get my hands on a couple of old TVs and monitors for next to nothing. So I tried to somehow reuse them and this is what I came up with so far. Enjoy!

Yamaha Receiver

I worked on two different projects this week. Since the first of the two hasn't delivered sufficient results yet, I focused on this receiver for the last two days.

Enjoy!

Part 3 - Bluetooth Hack!

The final part of this series is now out! Again a huge "Thank you!" to all the supporters who have given me new hope since my last video was aired. You guys are the best!

Some important news.

I actually wanted to finish the third part of my little video series about the "Line-In / Bluetooth-Hack" today, but I just can't manage to focus on anything, because there are so many doubts and worries in my head right now. So I went outside for a hike to calm down and I spontaneously made this video in order to get some important things off my chest. Things that I haven't really dared to talk about before. Rest assured though, that I will publish that 3rd part within the next two days.

And here is part 2!

Some upgrades for the DIY projector

Hey guys. I had to re-upload this video because there was an issue with the first version. I hope that none of you were confused by getting a YT-annotation and finding NO video on my channel. Enjoy!

Enjoy the Nostalgia

It has only been five years since I build my first device of this type, but it already feels like it has been an eternity and it almost makes me feel nostalgic. And speaking of nostalgia: In my experience there is no better way of enjoying old movies and documentaries than two watch them on an overhead projector ;P

Swedish Steel!

For many months I have been dreaming about a car that would be big enough and powerful enough to help me transport large things and pull a trailer.

Of course I need that for many of my projects, but it would also make it much easier for me to move away, should I eventually find a better location. So this old car is part of the "masterplan" :D.

At this point it's just a dream and I don't really know what is ahead of me in terms of repairs and repair costs, but I'm staying optimistic...

Vintage Glory!

The last few days have been extremely eventful.

My home security upgrades are nearly completed and the places looks like a fortress now...still not sure if I really should show it to the world. So there is a lot of footage that I probably can't show without compromising my own efforts to secure the place. Still thinking about that. But I have something else for you instead and that is this beautiful Tektronix 551, vacuum tube dual beam oscilloscope. Enjoy!

Teardown of an IP cam cheapo

So Sunday is nearly over, but at least the video got finished.

Sorry that I haven't yet replied to all of your comments on my last Patreon post (about the new logo), but I will do so soon.

Tell me your opinion: New logo and some other possible changes

(The spelling in this draft of the new logo is off. "Apocalpytic" :D. But no problem, I have corrected the file on my pc already.)

Hey guys. An incredibly hard  week lies behind me and I'm totally exhausted.

I couldn't finish a video today, but I'm planning to upload one tomorrow. I don't know if I'll be able to make it, since I'm really stressed out at the moment, but rest assured that I'm doing all I can.

As you can see here,  I have been working on an improve...

IP Cameras. A Security Risk?

This week has been unbelievably exhausting. In order to improve the security situation around the workshop I have spent a lot of time online, researching the  advantages, but also the potential dangers of IP-cameras. Along the way I had to wrestle with annoying software bugs and the terrible customer support of the  Chinese manufacturers behind the cheapo-IP-cams that you can find online. I also spent some time researching better software, that would also work with cheap cams from diff...

The Old Mercedes - What a Pitty

I felt a lot like Arnie Cunnigham today, when he was sitting in his '58 Plymouth Fury for the first time ( in the 1983 John Carpenter movie "Christine"). It's sad but true that it would actually take super-natural powers(, like a demon possession) to bring  this old Mercedes-Benz 280 SE back to life. Such a beautiful car, it's so sad that it was left to die here three decades ago...
