Dragon creator "lore"

Could potentially loop it into main gameplay? If Mount and Blade is a big inspiration, chosen vassals could also be knighted into a Dragon Knight in your kingdom or party, wherein you'd have to go out as a party, and find a wild dragon for that vassal to take as their own. This would mean you use the dragon creator to create a custom dragon, stylised for that vassal. In the same vain, if the player character wanted another style dragon, they'd do the same. This could also link to potentially having different classes of dragon, which would be simply changes to some stats like flight speed etc, and reflected in the dragon creator by having a 'speed' class be slimmer and other aesthetic aspects. Just a suggestion, but it could help it remain a core feature, but not require lore additions that don't fit with the narrative.

2026-01-24 01:43:00 +0000 UTCoooo, it can be like rapid evolution due to magic. Where the dragon can change shape to mold itself to its riders desires. Aka, the changing shape of the dragon is based off of the personality of its rider. Kinda like a mood ring.

2026-01-20 20:44:50 +0000 UTCYou could always go the Black Emporium route - in the Dragon Age games there's this shop of oddities, and one of them is a mirror that loads up the character creator. The lore goes something along the lines of "every time it is used, you shift from one reality and into the next, where you've always had white hair, a big nose, and purple eyes, instead of black hair, green eyes and a small nose (just a random example). So, essentially, nobody in-game mentions the change, and everything remains the same. Except now you (and in this case, your dragon) look different. Granted, it does not have to be a mirror, it could be anything; like the primordial island you mentioned.

2026-01-20 12:28:26 +0000 UTCYou could just take it to a wizard and polymorph it if you want something really quick but still in-universe. "I'm going to a dragon-rider's ball this week and the theme is seafoam. IDK why the fools picked an aquatic theme for a dragon rider's event but I can't complain without loosing face again. Light blue please" "Araga arooo, your dragon is now blue!" "Thank you for your discretion, Crayondalf the Fabulous"

2026-01-20 11:01:56 +0000 UTCI like the idea of a lore reason for customisation. You don't have to do it, for example Baldur's gate 3 glosses over it a bit, but I don't mind. But when you give that extra effort to tie everything together it doesn't go unappreciated :) one thing I'm curious about though, is whether we will be able to use our dragons after we make them in the first release of the dragon creator? Or will it just be completely standalone? Keep up the good work 🐉🔥
