this breadtangle of progress shots is kinda a mess, but having fun with this weird long creepy dude!
To explain a little what all I included here: the two larger panels were shots that I felt had some cool atmosphere/ detail on the creepy dude, then the "1st pass/2nd pass" were my revisions to his appearance on a complete page to make him look more like what I imagined in my head. Was it necessary? Probably not! Am I much happier with the revised page? I sure am :D
I mostly had the idea of making him all lanky and stretched out à la Mike Teevee from the end of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, then watched a playthrough of a horror game called Under: Depths of Fear and just really loved the style of the ghosts in it. I feel like some people might be unhappy if I post a pic of the creepy here but I recommend looking up the game if you're curious! It's an indie game about a WW1 soldier trying to escape a rapidly sinking ship that was honestly pretty stressful to watch but that I still really enjoyed haha
(This was the complete playthrough I watched for anyone interested)
OH also it's kinda funny because this side character was someone I designed (in non-monster form) based on one of my younger brothers just cuz... well sometimes you wanna take shortcuts when drawing NPCs ok
I debated at length if my bro would be offended that his cameo ends up turning into a possessed demon monster and then beat up by the main gang but since he is also into horror-tinged stuff, I thought he might actually be kinda amused by the whole thing XD
