Bit of a minor setback

Transformer blew out in town, taking out my entire c: drive File Allocation Table.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF WAS BACKED UP, HOWEVER.

I was able to save some of my work, from the drive itself, some of the large files DID NOT MAKE IT.  However, this isn't a write-off, the project was merely walked back by the 2~3 days I spent unifying the abandoned mall with it's parking lot.  That's the only object that was lost.  While I lost some of my source objects along with that, that's not a big deal due to the fact that I regularly back up, and what is finished gets put into the map, and that gets backed up.  So while I may be out a few days of work, if that's it, that's not too bad.  I'd say about 5 days at most of progress was lost.

So, thankfully, when I migrated the system boot drive (and my working drive) over from the old set of SSD's (about 4 years old) last September, to the new ones (which ended up failing), I left the old ones untouched.  I am using this now to write this.  So this way, all that I had to do was switch two plugs.

Let's not go through THAT again, so I'll be building in better redundancy sometime next month, and keep extra-diligent on my backups until then.

Thankfully I sent out copies of the MRK Collector Road kit updates, and the Sunken Station out to folks for testing.  This meant I didn't lose those, otherwise I'd have been back to where I was on the 29th of November.

So all is not lost.  I am doing the best I can do with what I have, and I hope it's smoother sailing here.  I may have lost a few days work but I do backups all the time.  So it's never a deal-breaker.

I will have to re-export my terrain out again, though, but for what it's worth, I am just glad that I could switch some plugs and get the system back up.

Backups, backups, backups, always do backups!  I know this best!

Comments

Having a little bit of a rough patch, but I am still modeling my rear off (I hope that doesn't sound bad). Lots of new buildings coming for the end of the month and hopefully a few more points of interest. Roane County will be updated following the next release with all new bridges - made possible from awesome Patreon members like YOU, who will get the beta of that a week or two in advance of all other folks.
