GAME OF THRONES [8x3] | EXTENDED REACTION

Comments

I think this is an awesome Episode, even though it is hard to see. "The Long Night" would not have made sense taking place in a lot of light...They needed to emphasize just how dark the battlefield was. I think they made a great chouce by having Arya killing the Night King. That stealth force she learned came in perfect. I have that dagger, and it is sharp. Could you imagine how scary Wight Dothraki would be? Yikes. I felt so bad that the Dragon died again, but he was not the same anymore...All of his good attributes left when the Night King turned him. Jorah died in the manner he wanted. Theon had a great character arc, and he went out by the Night King himself. Not many people can say that. Lady Mormont went out like a "G"...Taking down a Giant. Melisandre served her purpose. She really wasn't evil, but I still will never forgive her for burning Princess Shireen alive. There was a ton of plot armor though...With the amount of Wights there were, only about two of our favorite characters should have made it out alive, but the death toll of big characters was 8: The Night King, Melisandre, Theon Greyjoy, Lyanna Mormont, Ser Jorah Mormont, Lord Beric Dondarrion, Edd Tollett (a.k.a. Dolorous Edd), and Viserion...And of course, virtually all of the Dothraki. I thought it was so cool when there were red flames above Jon's head and blue flames below him...He was enveloped in two different color flames (It was a circle of flame with him in the middle...Red on top...Blue on bottom.) That truly made me think of "A Song Of Ice And Fire" and "The Prince That Was Promised". Anyway, I still think the Episode was awesome, and I think your reaction was to die for. It is crazy that they have been talking about these White Walkers for 8 Seasons, and they only spent one Episode battling them, but I still think they did a great job on it. Only Season 6-Episode 10 (when they blew up the Great Sept of Baelor) has the piano music in it, like this one. I am going to have to watch your faces again during the Night King kill. 🥶☠️💀🐉☄️🏹🛡⚔️🔰🔥🐉🏰 🗡🐎🤯😱🤬🖤🫶🐺🐦‍⬛🪨🌚🌪🌬🌫❄️🌨🆘️😭🤧🪦✝️

I see what your saying, but that certain detail was made up for House of the Dragon to try and make it better. That certain thing never actually happened. However, we all are allowed to like/dislike whatever we want and as long as you (not you personally) enjoy it, then that is all that matters.

Thrashifice

Same - I didn't count, though. I'm sitting there, thinking,"yeah, that was rough, but just wait until..." It's almost like having a TV night at your house, also.

Annette Gaskins

@AG I feel you on that one. The night king probably could have found Bran on his own BUT the writers didn't put that in the script. 🤣🤣🤣 Not to mention, his mark is on Bran. I actually feel like there are tons of things they could have done with Bran during that time but for what that entire episode was worth, I overall enjoyed it once I was able to take a breath. 🤣🤣🤣

Tiesheia Brown

I’ve watched this like 10 times… Bridget’s anxiety can be felt through the screen

Alvin Fralick

I watched your reaction at the end 3x’s! Your faces are the best…. Love or hate the last season, you are still riding a roller coaster of entertainment .

Caroline Price

I agree. I have heard warging is used more in the books but they dulled it down in the show? Him warging into a dragon would have made sense and been really cool esp since Jons dragon (i forget its name) flew off I feel like bran could have warged into it. Probably boils down to budget since the cgi for dragons was apparently insane.

Battlebug

I agree on the weird vibes with Arya. I like that it was her that kills him its nice in a "full circle trope" kind of way but I wish they fleshed it out more. Im not sure HOW they could have fleshed it out but I think you nailed it, she has been very uninvolved this whole time then winds up killing them, it feels a bit disjointed. We just needed more episodes in general for season 8 pretty much all my complaints for this season boil down to things being rushed.

Battlebug

This episode gets a lot of hate but most of us have had literal years to think about all the plot holes and issues with it. But the fact this episode had yall on the edge of your seat, fully engaged, and shocked throughout makes this a good episode despite its plot holes and silliness IMO. It is a very wild ride and thats what makes it fun. Plus any episode with this much dragon action is a win in my book . I dont think any other series will give us the amazing CGI that GOT and HOTD give us when it comes to dragons.

Battlebug

I know a lot of fans didn’t like how the long night turned out but I really liked it. Yes there are problems with it like the massive plot armor. People get mad that Jon didn’t get to kill the night king because that’s like what he’s been built up to do. Arya killing the night king made sense to me after we get a certain detail in House of the Dragon. The production of the episode is really interesting, 55 consecutive night shoots in the cold. Cast and crew say it was extremely difficult. Love your reaction as always!

Emily Rose

Sure was, no main character was injured. 😆

Marcos Paulo

The plot armor was STRONG.

Chrissy

For a GoT episode, this was one of the worst for me. The plot armor was just way too thick. If this wasn't GoT I'd say it would be a 10/10.

Thrashifice

Don't worry about the Dothraki, they'll respawn🤣

gak9319

with that logic no need to assess or count anything in the serieslol. Just saying, regardless, that’s a badass title to have and worth noting, especially since she is notably smaller than giant, not to mention a giant wight

Bob

And that’s why it ruled and took a lot of people by surprise, yet seemed pretty obvious to me when it happened that was being built up.

Bob

Hang on a minute, where the fuck is Ghost?! 😩😩 Your reaction to Arya killing the Night King was me 😂😂 Though as amazing as that scene was, part of me feels Jon should have been the one to kill him.

Chrissy

Everything is better binged. Shorter episodes are easier. The longer HBO shows don't get the respect they deserve because of short attention spans.

thebirdcatcher1

I’m laughing at The Night King wanting no part of Jon Snow. Raising the dead to shield himself from Jon was a bitch move. I guess the Night King remembered Jon killing one of his Generals at Hardhome with his Valyrian Steel sword and said nope, I’m not fucking with him. 😂…Anyway, the fact that only Jon was able to get everyone to come together to battle The Night King and the Army of the Dead, I feel like that was his mission. He was not the one to actually kill The Night King. I guess the writers felt that would be too obvious.

Virgogrl

Also if nobody noticed, the first zombie in the crypt we saw was Maester Luwin. The guy stabbed by Theon’s men before they leave winterfell

Abraham Lever

Same thing happens with Gendry. After they show him on the wall while the undead are climbing up, they don’t show him again for the rest of the episode

Abraham Lever

I thought about this too, I like to think he ran into the forest and said fuck that

Ali Cat

Theon is my favorite character and Jorah is also in my Top 5 and we lost them both this episode. But they were really good deaths. Jorah died exactly how he would have chosen to and Theon was absolved and redeemed and I think died at peace with his dual identity as a Greyjoy and a Stark. My only regret really is that we never got to see what might come of Sansa and Theon. But overall, they were honorable deaths and I appreciated their place in the story. And my other 3 Top 5 characters (Sansa, Davos, and Greyworm) made it out alive so I did okay. I mean, not relative to the whole cast, I guess--2 of the 6 named characters who died were my faves--but still. I remember when it aired being SHOCKED at how few people we lost. Relieved, but shocked. Also, I can't help but think about how much Dany lost this episode. I think she was so brave for being the only person on the field without any hand-to-hand combat experience and she still picked up a sword and fought. She watched all her Dothraki die, then most of her Unsullied--and these people are more than just subjects to her. They love her and she loves them. She didn't lose soldiers, she lost /her people/. People that trusted her and followed her to Westeros and that she wanted to protect. Then she had to fight her own dragon and watch him die again. And then she lost her best friend and closest confidant...all this after losing her lover and her claim to the throne hours earlier. I just can't help but think how alone she must feel in the aftermath. Anyway, I've rewatched this episode a dozen times and I still don't know how I feel about Arya being the one to kill the Night King. I don't really have any strong feelings about it, which I guess is the problem. I wasn't mad at it, but I miss a sense of vindication or pride or satisfaction or closure because Arya wasn't connected to the Night King story at all the whole show. So I just wonder why they picked her to do it. Again, I don't hate it...it just didn't hit as hard as I feel like it should have given the 7 season investment in the defeat of the White Walkers...Was that just me or did anyone else feel like that?

SNBangtan

Only THREE more episodes! You’re at the epic climax now. Yeah I didn’t think they’d defeat the army of the dead in one episode.

GoTJake

so he wouldn’t have found him on his own? 🧐idk…still seems like he could done more. i could be biased because i have my beef with bran but this isn’t the episode to discuss that on yet.

AG

dany lost so much this episode. she started off the episode feeling as though she had lost jon and her claim to the throne after finding out about his true parentage. then beginning of the battle she loses most of the dothraki and unsullied on the front lines. she ends the episode losing jorah, and basically losing viserion again after he spent the whole battle attacking his mama and brothers ):

jaeideun

I giggled when Cody said Arya is goin to kill the whole dead army .

Mauro

The entire series, Arya had zero to do with the white walkers or the Night King. Arya being the one to kill the Night King is so random lmao like I'd even Tormund would make more sense. Arya hasn't used her faceless man abilities since she killed the Frey's...

Jason Cascante

Battle of Blackwater was superior to both imo

Jason Cascante

Bridget's reaction to Arya killing the night king was priceless. That's the way I reacted. Except, I let out a big breath and cried a little because I think I held my breath for most of the episode.

Tiesheia Brown

Dude, with the hurry, the plot armor and all, you've got to love this episode. All the times I hear the cue to the music with Sansa and Tyrion I almost cry. Maybe I did once.

Marcos Paulo

Why should it have been John? Arya trained for a reason. Even Jaquein Hagar knew she was destined for a greater purpose. Remember he told her "you're not ready to be a faceless man. But you will become someone else". 🤷🏽‍♀️

Tiesheia Brown

He wasn't zoning out. He was bringing the night king to him so Arya could kill him. Hence the reason why he gave her the blade. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Tiesheia Brown

This episode was shot with all natural light I believe, but I guess the showrunners didn’t realize how bad it would look with all the digital compression. To my knowledge, the 4K Blu-ray version is superior and not so hard to see what’s going on.

Josh Shelton

Watching this back... WHERE IS GHOST

Alexandra Baller

this episode was sooo stressful i just thought everyone was gonna die. also shout out to bran for being the most useless person in westeros. i was convinced that when the old 3 eyed raven told him he was going to fly that he would warg into a dragon for the big battle but nope he was just zonin out.

AG

Thank baby Jesus it’s finally here, been dying waiting all weekend for this to drop!

Abraham Lever

And we thought nothing was going to top the Battle of the Bastards for top dog in TV cinematic history. At the time, everyone thought John was destined to be the one to take out the Night King. A pleasant surprise seeing Arya's signature move to take out old blue eyes. Cheers!

Peter Christopher Banlon

I mean it's just a title not a royal succession no need to count, if were going by those rules then she's like the 7th cause the nights watch took out a two giants.

mya

The 3rd Giantsbane! Along with Tormund and (unfortunately) Ramsey.

Bob

I love this episode for the cinematography, the spectacle, music, etc. But the writing of it is so mid

Why Do I Have Subs

RIP Lyanna Mormont the GiantSlayer.

mya

This was one of my top 3 episodes of the entire show. Just on its own, the intensity, the cinematography…. amazing. Great reaction as always, thank you both.

Ciara Armstrong

Even though I've watched this before this episode always makes me cry scream and throw up

Moss

Arya killing the Night King was so epic but it should have been Jon

Cortney Krum

Yes!!!!

Alvin Fralick

Yessss I’ve been waiting all day. Can’t wait to talk about it on stream tonight too!

Kodi

Can't wait 😂

Ry.Blair
