Haha I feel like every week I am gonna have to defend Lottie. Which is ok, cause she is such a complex character. In the whole death dream sequence those were all perceptions that shauna has of the characters and I believe fully that scene with "Lottie" was the wilderness entity speaking directly to Shauna. It said "we need to feed" and "you will see soon enough". This show is playing with the mythology of if you consumer in the underworld you can never leave. Jackie took the hot chocolate, Lottie did not consume the food in the foodcourt, Shauna did not consume but her baby did. That baby was the sacrifice for Shauna to live. Even the song it was singing Frere Jacques is a huge thing in the context of this show. The actual old song FrΓ¨re Jacques is a song about a friar who has overslept and needs to ring the bells. The song is telling him to wake up so that he can ring the bells for the other monks. Why does he need to ring the bells? So that the other monks can wake up to pray. In the context of the scene, the song is literally telling Shauna to wake up and pray to whatever is in the woods. β€œWake up and pray to me.” The thing in the woods wants that baby as a blood sacrifice and knows the grief will drive belief. As for real Lottie, this girl is just doing the best she can. She hears things, sees things, and has been thrust into this role by Mari, Van, Travis, and others. Travis is the one who initiates the blood letting. She has no medical knowledge, cannot properly comfort Shauna cause Shauna doesn't trust her, so she does what she can with the role she is in because she is scared. There is nothing else she feels like she can do to help but she doesn't want Shauna to die and she doesn't want the baby to die. There is no malice in it. Even in present day Lottie is trying to fight against what is happening and has made a space in the wilderness that she has control over and feels safe in. Yet all the shit keeps happening. Also that baby eating scene was wild cause it again showed you the perception of Shauna with these characters. You have Lottie who is accepting what is happening almost childlike, Van snarling like a wolf because Shauna knows she is Lottie's biggest ally, Nat looking horrified at her actions, Akila looking remorseful, Tai is definitely the sleepwalking version because Shauna knows she would never consciously do it, and Misty looking pragmatic about it. Brilliant storytelling man. I apologize for rambling haha I could just talk about this show for hours.

Duuuude the ending literally left me sobbinggggg. As annoyed as I was with Adult Shauna in Season 1, Season 2 has definitely showed WHY she is so messed up, and honestly I'm surprised she's not more fucked up!!!! I knew that baby wasn't gonna make it, but seeing it slowly starve to death, and then reveal it was never alive was a really clever way of showing the worst of both worlds. And ya can't blame young Misty lol, even though it's been two weeks for us, it's been about 10-15min since her bestie died πŸ˜‚πŸ˜… girlie was going through a lot of emotions lol. Super excited as always to see whatever future reactions you guys make, and excited for next week's episode and y'all's reaction!!!! There's been talks of a "secret" unannounced 10th episode for this season, lots of conflicting statements and different channel guides showing episode 10 or not. Regardless, they're planning for 5 seasons so we've got a lot coming our way!!!!πŸ’•
