Dr. Who Series 6 - The curse of the black spot

Finaly :) I´m sorry but this week things just went a little crazy, but also with recording itself. You will see what I mean.....This just wasn´t my week :D :D

Dr. Who Series 6 - The curse of the black spot

Thank you for your thoughts about this episode. I´m glad I´m not alone, with not really caring about this episode :) I didn´t recognize that continuity error, but thanks for pointing it out. :) I just watched your video, and I really like it. I would have loved to participate myself. I loved writing stories as a kid :D Is the winning story a spoiler, or could I watch it already?

"the Doctor invites kids to send" Interesting! There's something like that in the next episode too... PS This is not a spoiler!

"Yo ho ho! Or does nobody actually say that?", The Doctor, "The Curse of the Black Spot" I do like the small one-off Doctor Who stories - just not this one very much. It's slightly fun to play the "common pirate tropes" drinking-game, and the fact that there isn't really an evil threat behind it all is nice but there's not a lot in the story. So I don't have much to say. There might be a call back to a Classic Who story or at least a Captain with the name of Avery is referenced - but I've never been terribly convinced by that. There is a continuity error within this episode (some scenes were lost in the edit) meaning that one of the crew just vanishes between scenes and then ends up in the sickbay later. Hm - I wish it worried me more. But the coolest thing about Doctor Who this week was that in the Confidential, the Doctor invites kids to send in a short script for a writing competition and the winning script would get filmed and broadcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQTml2vEocw And the winning story was broadcast in one of the later Confidentials. "Ignore all my previous theories!", The Doctor, "The Curse of the Black Spot"

Thank you for your thoughts :) I´m looking forward to it, too. :)

I´m glad I´m not alone with my opinion. I was so afraid it might be a loved episode by many. Funny, by the way, how you had problems with the technical stuff, watching this episode :D I´m glad it worked in the end. Thank you for the compliment about me picking up a lot of things in the episode. I tried my best to stay focused. :) And you´re right, I forgot about Amy seeing that woman in the previous episode already. So thank you for reminding me. :)

Thank you for the thoughts on this episode. :) I laughed at your "I have a higher tolerance for pirates" :D :D Sounds funny :D Also thank you for your kind words about the chaos included in this reaction. :) And, yes we really enjoyed the birthday, thank you :) I hope you had a nice weekend as well :)

I also agree with the relatively low rating. But I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Seems like you wasn't the only one experiencing problems with this one. I usually watch the episode through i player on Tv and the reaction on my laptop but for some reason I couldn't get i player working on the tv so had to do it the other way round. And for someone who usually says she gets a lot of things wrong as well as being tired you picked up on so much in this story. You guessed at the start that she was actually saving people. You guessed correctly that she was using reflections. The only thing you didn't really get was the bit with Amy seeing the eye patch lady. she also saw her in the doorway in the previous episode. I like the story but it is an average one. 3/5 and currently ranked at 68/140. I do like the banter between the Doctor and Captain Avery. But I guess if you're not keen on pirate stories then it's not the story for you. Looking forward to the next one.

It's far from my favourite episode of the series, or of Doctor Who in general, but I think I enjoyed it more than you did. Maybe a 7.2 from me. Certainly a bit of a filler and the twist, in which the "baddy" turns out to be a misunderstood "goody" after all, has been done many times before. But I have a much higher tolerance for pirates than you do and I enjoyed Rory's comic turn when he is bewitched and intoxicated by the "siren". The siren/doctor was played by Lily Cole btw who was a model before becoming an actress. The reaction was fine. I didn't notice the phone problem until you told us and the three minutes of lip reading was good fun. No problem at all. I hoped you both enjoyed the birthday.
