Torchwood Season 4 - End of the road

Hi everyone,

the fact that you are able to watch this episode today feels like a miracle, because everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong.

First I injure my eye, than OBS records the wrong screen and the whole footage of the show is missing with the first recording. I tried recording the footage again, seperatly, but the BBCI Player didn´t accept my VPN anymore. After almost one hour of trying it worked, but then my OBS (editing software) had problems with the new footage. Argggg...... That is also the reason why I couldn´t pause the unclear footage in between the video, but the censoring should be so clear today, that you should have no problem adjusting, regardless. :)

To be perfectly honest I can't remember how this story ends so I'm not writing from a position of any foreknowledge. I don't think my forgetfulness is any comment on the story, I'm just getting old. Or maybe Torchwood have put something in my oat milk. Glad your eye is better.

I know what you mean by information dump. And I think it could have been handled better indeed. The last two episodes before this one, have been so slow, and without much developement. And I wish they would have started the whole Angelo story way sooner. They could have made the previous episodes less slow, and this episode less fast :D Yeah I get your rant now :D :D They are very "convenient" indeed. :D Oswald Danes..... So well played..... I hate him so much :D :D

It´s interesting that you have a totally different take on the Angelo scene than I do. I immediately had the feeling that Jack did turn off all the monitors and life support machines with this plug. It didn´t even accur to me, that it could be different. I don´t know who is right, but than again maybe it doesn´t even matter for the story. If it did matter maybe they would have explained it a little bit better. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the story. I can relate to what you are saying. Especiall the part about the impact that an event like this would have on the world. And how it would change it for ever. Since I don´t know how it will be resolved in the end (Maybe the Torchwood team will infiltrate the worlds water supply with Jack forgetting beverage :D :D ) I can´t talk about this topic yet. But it makes me even more curious about the last episode. Thank you for your kind words. I went to the doctor on monday, and he helped me. Yesterday was the first day my eye was completely free again :)

Thank you so much for your kind words. :) I am feeling much better, in fact my eye is back to normal :) OMG I couldn´t even imagine having a car crash and getting pieces of glass into my eyes. That must have hurt sooo much. I´m so sorry you had to go through that. I am glad you got medical care right away. :)

This episode was a bit of an information dump - RTD calls it "screeds" in his intro. It's almost too concentrated an info-dump really. The granddaughter just keeps telling us lots of important and useful stuff to the point that I wonder if there were a better way to have written it. I had my rant about the Weeping Angels being written differently before - now, you get my rant about the contact lenses. Apparently, the lenses now have a feature that automatically activates when the wearer's heart-rate is elevated - and then broadcasts video and lip-read audio to nearby TV monitors. It's cool, yes, - but this new feature seems awfully like a one-off plot device. And using the lenses to record a confession was a bit too similar to the use of them at the end of "Children of Earth" - but in a much less significant story point. It's was nice to see John de Lancie (playing the senior CIA person) with a role in Torchwood. And Oswald Danes gets more and more appalling - and now he's on the run.

I'm fairly certain that Jack just turned off the monitors when their alarms went off, indicating that Angelo had died. Thinking that they were wrong and irrelevant. I don't think he switched off anything that was actually keeping Angelo alive. So I don't think that Jack actually killed him, even accidentally. Maybe other people will tell me I'm wrong about this but it's what I like to believe anyway. It's an odd series generally. It veers between exciting and annoying and sometimes too slow and it often doesn't feel like a Torchwood story at all. I am not sure how to evaluate this particular episode. There was a lot of talking and we learnt a lot. There was certainly some development in uncovering the cause of the "miracle". Oswald was still played brilliantly and was still obnoxious. I think I generally preferred last week's. And I increasingly get the nagging feeling that a story like this is too big and global and devastating to follow up on. Any future stories should (in theory) be set in a world which is utterly changed by it. I know that Doctor Who sometimes needs the same kind of amnesia on the part of the viewer but this time it feels wrong somehow. I hope you get to see a doctor on Monday and they sort things out for you. Nice of you to even make a reaction video under the circumstances. Certainly don't worry about not wearing make-up.

Hi! "injure my eye" I really feel this! Since I "only" injured my eyes three times: 1. Slaked lime was splashed into it. 2. Soldering water splashed into it. 3. During a car accident, fragments of the exploded windshield got into my eyes. (I didn't close it) Fortunately, I always got medical care right away, unlike YOU who have to wait until Monday. I hope that by the time you're reading this you're over it and experiencing only minor side effects. I wish you good health!
