So much here…Can’t share it…Won’t share it, but HEY! Guess what?? Those are actual Hell’s Angels that she's with and “Chuck”(her baby sister) is the blonde girl on the back of the other bike. I have a definitive “yes” or “no” to many of these questions, but y'all just float Liv’s way. It’s not my place to say anything beyond what she’s publically stated. I know her and have hung out with her several times (due to her and my Dad’s band playing many of the same festivals, etc., and I won't break her trust. One last thing: Her speaking voice in this mv is her, BUT up an octave. She made it a little more very young-girl-like for obvious mv purposes.

Also I think that the “you don’t know what true freedom is until you’ve lost everything” is very much her being like well I have literally nothing else to loose. I have no family, no home, no friends. So it doesn’t matter what I do I’m just gunna do me. So similar to what you said but a little less “hopeful”

do you think/know if she wrote carmen about herself?

when you said shades of grey i was like omgggg yes audrey reached to shades of cool lol i loveeee that song. this era was definitely lana’s darkest i would say, i think her later music is a little lighter but not completely and her last album is just so beautiful with some beautiful songs that makes me feel like she’s in a better place in her life than she was when making born to die. also she does have some more upbeat songs, she is an artist to me that tackles so many different genres in her music pop, folk, hip hop, indie, rock, country like she does it all it’s hard to pinpoint her style of music for me even though i just roundabout call her melancholy pop😭

Sooo many things. Lana is super self-aware and so the purpose of ride is her convincing herself not so much the audience. That’s a common theme in her first two and half albums. She’s convincing herself that she can deal with these issues she can make them into pretty things instead of dealing with them in reality. She was sent away by her mother at about 14/15 because she was an alcoholic. She never came back home. And her relationship with her mother is very damaged “ I haven’t done a cartwheel since I was nine. I haven’t seen my mother in a long, long time.” -A&W. She actually talks a lot about her personal life and family trauma in Ocean BLV. the album. She talks about how she wants kids but they’ve told her she is unfit meantally. How traumatizing it was to be ripped from her home when all she wanted to do was drink a beer and kiss boys at 14. She obviously suffered with addiction issues and had horrible relationships with some horrible men. She was a REALLY damaged person. So I think that’s why going through her albums consecutively is always the way to go because we see her heal and grow in real time. This video was probably 90% autobiography especially if we ARE assuming she’s a sex worker. Cause from my pretty extensive knowledge she was not. But she very much lived that lack of better terms trashy scary lifestyle when she was in pretty formative years (late teens and early 20s). But ya she is THE sad girl. Always super authentic and vulnerable. She doesn’t write for anyone but herself and I think that’s what really stands out to me about her as an artist. I think a lot of artists do what they know their fans will like and buy into. Or what their label wants. But Lana isn’t afraid of making people uncomfortable, making people upset. She’s just telling her story. She’s also extreaaaaamly smart. She has a BFA in Philosophy. So anytime you think “oh is this on purpose” or aren’t sure why something is written that way or a sound is there. Just know that it’s all purposeful.
