[PART 2 - Vault Tracks] TAYLOR SWIFT 1989 TAYLOR'S VERSION ALBUM REACTION

Comments

I don't have a lot to say other than you're so real for constantly having Lavender Haze stuck in your head, cause same hahaha "Is It Over Now?" and "Now That We Don't Talk" are definitely up there as two of my favorite vault tracks she's ever released along with "I Can See You." They've been stuck in my head for weeks. Her voice is SO full, colorful and mature now -- especially the way she uses her lower register.

Sophie

yea 11 years in and he still surprises me. I love him so much!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Ive heard a few people say that but I personally see a big change from Midnights and 1989. However I could see your point with how Midnights is a more adult version haha

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Oh yea these were clearly NOT the same as Midnights. Totally different!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Pasha (also known as Lil P... because she was peeing everywhere hahaha)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

oh thats a good point. I remember her wanting to recreate herself outside of just breakup songs

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

hahahah! oops!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I think I've reacted to The Man during a live event in the past

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

oh good! hahaha

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

yessss me too!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Aw Im so stoked youre enjoying my perspective :)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

oh thats cool about it being a nod to Twilight So it was about Harry! all of them? ... Wonderland ;)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Seeing all the vinyls made me so happy! And can I say “couple goals” in regards to the decorations? I need this in my life.now 😂

Ana

Taylor fact checked it 😂👏🏼

Ana

Interesting how you were listening to midnights before this vault because it sounds very similar to it in my opinion. Dare I say Midnights is an adult version of 1989 ✨ “Is it over now” is my favorite as well as “Sl*t!” — can’t wait to sip wine and slow dance to it in the kitchen with my girl friends! Back in 2013 I wouldn’t even imagine that “handprints in wet cement” can be a lyric from Taylor’s song

Ana

I’ve been so excited to see this! Love your interpretation of her vocals because all I’ve seen people say is these belonged on Midnights, but they so clearly didn’t. She’s evolved so much stylistically since these were written. One of the best parts about Taylor’s music is the layers in each song. A song may not connect with you today, but a week, month, or even years down the road… some particular line or feeling or sound will hit just right and you’ll have a new obsession.

DOGGO!!!!!!

Shani Gribben

I hated wonderland the first time I heard it… but now it’s one of my favs. I swearrrrr it grows on you!! But I agree Now that we don’t talk should have been on the album… but it was also a bit too boy revealing and I think she was trying to avoid releasing songs with clear indications to who they were about. Especially during that time.

Savvy

lol to be fair about the 1950s reference in suburban legends: the 1950s is when the suburbs became a THING so a lot of the schools built in those oldest suburbs do, in fact, have 1950s gymnasiums to this day. for once, it's actually not an easter egg reference to another song

Neumann

The way I internally screamed when you started with the last track and went backward. This vault track order tells the story in a timeline of events to "Is it over now?" And "tea" is that it is that this vault is believed to be, start to end, about her relationship with Harry Styles. LOTS of easter eggs ("blue dress on a boat", if you know, you know!) backing that up.

Summer Devin

I'm sure many people have told you by now, but the vault tracks are exclusive releases for taylor's version albums, so that means you won't be able to compare it to an original version on the old album! or maybe you already knew that and meant you just wanted to compare her vocals to another song off the 2014 version and i'm getting mixed up! but anyways i'm glad you loved the songs, they are all high ranking in my vault track favs. p.s. i think you would really like taylor's song 'the man' from lover based on your 'slut!' tangent, hopefully you can react to lover soon its surprisingly one of her more underrated albums but i treasure it!!

Here to say that the Target vinyl IS the Tangerine edition, even though the actual color is a little more muted. All of the vinyl and CD version colors are in "Slut!" (Sunrise Boulevard, Aquamarine [Green], and Tangerine) or Blank Space (Rose Garden, and Crystal Skies). She also said in a voice memo that she was between those two songs on which would make the album!

Tara Cabache

I need to know if David did actually kill you for doing it in the opposite order LOL

Tiffany T

Taylor's low notes are amazing. Like idk about technical stuff but...I love her leaning into them

Meghan

I love this! It’s cool to get the perspective of someone who understands music/vocals really well. I think your assumption that adjustments were made to pitch down certain parts makes a lot of sense. 9 years ago she definitely couldn’t have hit those really low notes, so I’m sure they weren’t written that way initially. but now she can and I’m happy she added them. Btw I think you do have the tangerine vinyl! If “Sweeter than Fiction” is on the track list then you do.

Marissa Kauffman

Now That We Don't Talk is my fave of these vault tracks and it was fun to see you vibe to it! I wouldn't replace Wonderland with it, I like Wonderland's chaotic anxiety; I'd replace How You Get the Girl, but that's just me. Also we all expected something different than what Slut! was; it wasn't just you.

Danielle

yea the songs are in a different order but i don't mind, i was looking forward to Is It Over Now? the most, so now i didn't have to wait till the end😂 Speaking of, Is It Over Now is so Bella Swan coded😭 jumping off of very tall somethings to see him come running? Ok Bella I see you. Also funny that it reminds me and a lot of other swifties of Twilight as Taylor was dating Taylor Lautner aka Jacob #TeamJacob Also, this (and I'm pretty sure all the other vault songs) are about Harry Styles. One of the lyrics are "When you lost control, red blood, white snow" which is a hint to an snowmobile accident they both had back when they dated. She mentioned that once before in Out of the woods; "Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? twenty stitches in the hospital room..." There are a lot of other "easter eggs" in the other songs about Harry but it would be too much to write down lol I loooove Say Don't Go, and Slut! totally surprised me and pretty sure all of us. We all thought it was some Olivia type song but I honestly love it the way it is. Suburban Legends and Now that we don't talk were definitely my least favorite at first listen but they are really growing on me. I still think the Speak Now vault tracks are superior but the 1989 ones are a close second.🙌🏼😩❤️ EDIT: and stop hating on Wonderland!!!😂😂😂

patrick

You’re the first to notice!!! 🥳 🎉

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

She said that some of these songs didn't make it on the record only because they were written to late in the process so there wasn't time to fine tune them. Some in the vault are actually among her favorites.

Elisa Hanna

The song “Slut!” definitely has hit me like an acquired taste. I also think it’s telling that in the first pre-chorus she says “I’ll pay the price you won’t” about having a public relationship. And I generally really enjoy all of the vault tracks, but Suburban Legends and Is It Over Now are my faves.

rapid-ren

I also really appreciate your mini-tangent about not slut shaming and how we should be free to decide for ourselves!

Amanda

I loved how you started by vibing to Taylor! <3

Martina Mendola

You are listening to them in the video in a different order than the album has them - which is Sl!t first I think, with Say Don’t Go second. I loved Say Don’t Go the instant I heard it!

Amanda

I just wanted to thank you for being such a delightful person to listen to! Im just enjoying you listening to the vault for the first time with such joy!

Amanda

The Vault tracks are assumed to be about Harry Styles of One Direction fame!

Clara Gros-Louis

cant wait until i get off work! thank you 😊

marisol
