ofc its different, blaine cheated and the grew older. its clear that kurt wasnt that into the realitionship as much. also chris does amazing as kurt, just as in the later seasons. the character grew up, he is more mature

when you said Klaine needed a kiss in this scene i remembered how i hated their chemistry in s5. i think when Chris Colfer was one of the strongest actor in the first 3 seasons and Klaine's chemistry really amazing in s3, they kind of all lost it in s4/5/6 to me... idk what happened or if something happened but i feel like from s5 and onward, every Klaine's scenes lack emotion and Chris performance of Kurt just become less and less alive and human? idk. also it starts being more of the Blaine show than Kurt show too tbh

for a show that is so WOMEN focused this is pretty heavy MEN focused episode hahaha! they were in the writers room thinking this ep would be enough for the whole season lol (bc tbh, yes the women artists are the best part of this show, all the cast is talented but let's be real... the girls are carrying that show)

I too really like Jake.I definitely think he is super talented ! What I saw regarding his behaviour with Marley after he cheated was at first he only wanted to have her forgiveness and get back with her .I think that she really hurt him when she understandably told him " she was a fool to have believe that you could change " he said " I have changed !" She said " no you haven't and you never will " ! That is when he went into full womanizer mode .not that it was ok for him to act that way but I think his behaviour came from him being really wounded from what Marley said . So he responded with Ok you say I am a womanizer and always be so I will be that !

So true that there are so many unknown jobs out there! I guess when people think of actors they think about the gaps in employment between jobs, but people find a way. I did languages at university and everyone expects you to become a translator or a teacher, but most of my friends and myself aren't doing those jobs. We're across all industries! I have friends who are actors who perform in schools, or teach English through drama, or who perform on cruise ships. You just have to get creative in finding a way in and narrow down the things you want to do. And about the lady you spoke to about Patreon, she might just find the idea a bit overwhelming. I've had people tell me before about how they've been successful with something and that I could do it, but it can seem like a lot of effort when you're comfortable with how things are.

Kinda of gives us a dose of reality that these are ficticious characters theyre playing and not who they actually are

the writers make ryder seem like a really good guy in the show which he isn't (at least wasn't) in real life. especially when he says "i would never hurt you" to marley and in real life blake jenner (ryder) and melissa benoist (marley) were in a relationship and he abused her both physically and mentally. whenever i see him in glee or any project i just can't look at him. luckily melissa found someone really good for her and they've been married for 4 years now with a kid! it's really unfortunate to me that he (at least was) the complete opposite of ryder:(

If I were a new mom with long hours, I would totally have my baby at work at times, but then again maybe that's not allowed. Truthfully Ive never thought that through now that you mention it. I've run my own businesses since I got out of college and I dont have kids. I see a LOT of moms with kids at work here in Thailand, but I didnt think much about how I dont see that in the USA

I love when you leave comments so deep about how the characters should build on themselves "I hope he examines what led him to cheat and works on himself for the future. " It's just so kind <3
Im glad you made the career choice you did! You help sooo many people!

So I really don’t like Billy Joel, but the songs were really good. Instead of them hyper-focusing on Rachel, I would have loved to have seen the college lives of Sam and Blaine as roommates in NY. I mean, so much could have been written with those two. As for just Jake, sadly he’s the only character that has really been given much depth since the new kids came and he’s such a talent. They just don’t use him for that all that much. And Ryder, since everything came out about him (the real actor)I just can’t watch him anymore and enjoy it, at all. The writers…oy!

Love the music in this episode, but not really a fan of the storylines. I'm really disappointed that they decided to change Jake's character so drastically. It definitely doesn't feel like it's storyline driven, but rather more like a production/writers decision trying to create drama for the sake of creating drama or maybe other backstage, off camera drama that influenced their decision. It seems like Jake is reverting back because Marley is refusing to give him a second chance and Ryder has pretty much turned his back on him and he felt like they were good friends who had each other's backs. Poor guy doesn't have anyone else to turn to for support. I hope he examines what led him to cheat and works on himself for the future.
I liked the NY storyline. It's nice to see them get together and to start making plans for the future. I feel like Sam wouldn't have acted that way in the college interview and it was kind of cringey to watch that scene. I really don't buy that he's that dumb or clueless. I think it's natural for Blaine to explore many different careers and think it would have been realistic to show him at least keep an open mind. As talented as he is, they talked about how selective NYADA is and on the off chance that he didn't get in, it makes sense to have a backup plan.
I liked that Rachel was being so supportive of Sam and helping him work through his doubts about going to college and going for what he really wants. I also loved that the group was concerned about him not falling into bad or unhealthy habits just to make it in the business.
I really like what Santana adds to the New York storyline. I feel like she balances well with both Kurt and Rachel and challenges them in ways to help them think outside the box and grow. I also like that she represents someone who is still trying to find what fits for her. Seems like her resistance to all the singing might be some of her frustration about not necessarily having found her path just yet. Of course her true self came through and treated us to a great performance and her psychic Mexican third eye was on full alert to the shift in Rachel and Sam's dynamic. She definitely does not miss a thing.
Thank you for your thoughts on careers. As someone who was singularly focused on one career when I was in college, I was so grateful for my academic advisor who told me not to major in pre-med, but suggested instead that I major in something that has more options for a career at the end, since pre-med only really allows you to go to medical school and nothing else. Long story short, I still went to medical school with a degree that wasn't pre-med, and I still ended up not choosing medicine as a career in the end and I'm grateful that I had choices as it made my career change less difficult to navigate.

I love it when Artie sings! We really should have heard him more, Kevin's voice is amazing.
Gosh, the whole "I'm a really good guy. I would never hurt you" and the song just hits different now. 😬
I kinda get where Jake is coming from though. The only person who actually believed in him said he was just being himself and she shouldn't have been surprised. He's only playing along. Don't get me wrong, he messed up badly and deserves this, but I undertstand why he would revert back to his old ways in the process.

I grew up listening to the music my parents listened to. A lot of classic rock and definitely Billy Joel, lol. So only listening to stuff from my generation or aimed at my age group at that time seems so wild to me.

This is such a good episode.🤩So glad👌🏼they did legend Billy Joel.⭐️The music for me.👌🏼Artie is so sweet🥹with Becky. I always want Marley and Jake to be a thing❤️but they both really need some time⌚️to grow and deal with their issues, individually. I know the writers ✍🏼 only did this because of Puck. It’s messed up.😒And then, here comes Rider, dude no.🫢He’s pushing her too hard and eventually she will get fed up. She was right👌🏼before, time.⌚️The dynamic between Marley and her mom is the best.🤩
What Tyra Banks was saying is mostly true IRL (for models), but it doesn’t have to be for Sam. I’m glad😃he is more confident now in who he is and standing up✊🏼for himself. The Rachel and Sam thing, like no.👎🏼😅 And I like that Sam and Blaine just pop up in NYC,🏙️to figure out plans📑for their future. It’s awesome🤩to have friends that can help you stay on course.❤️“I don’t have any feelings Becky”, one of Sue’s best lines.😆I’m so glad you spoke about the job sitch.👌🏼It’s important to know what you want and that there are options available,🤲🏼especially these👇🏼days. Thank you so much.👌🏼⭐️Magnificent watch party. 👀🎉❤️

I'm not sure why you kept asking where her baby was? Lol. She doesn't bring her to work.
Samchel was something I was hoping for back in season 2 because I liked both of them, and when they went to prom together I was hoping they would get together. I did like Samcedes though, even though we didn't get a lot of them. I honestly like Rachel with everyone she dates but Finn. Lol. It's unpopular opinion, and even more so since the actor (and character by default) has passed, I really couldn't stand Finn. I didn't like how he treated Quinn (before he knew she cheated), or Rachel, and then back to Quinn, and then back to Rachel. He cheated on Quinn, played mind games with Rachel, and he played these back and forth games until his passing. His character was made out to be this person that was so likeable while he honestly was kind of a jerk to everyone. So, I thought Sam, who is super sweet and mostly wholesome would be good for Rachel.
I still like Sue. We see how she grew up in past seasons, and I think she has a hard time showing people how much she cares which is why she's kind of mean. But, I think Artie and her have a bit of an understanding. I remember he used to be kind of scared of her, but now I think they understand Sue as a person. I feel like she's become part of their dysfunctional family, and they're just like..."oh that's aunt Sue, she's a bitch but has a good heart...deep deep ..very deep down".

That’s fine if you don’t feel sorry for him. I never said I did either but he is still one of my favorite characters. The thing with cheating in my opinion is that’s always intentional especially on this show. Nobody accidentally cheats on someone. It is a choice like you said. But I disagree, if Ryder really was Jake’s best friend he should have went to him about Marley instead of just blasting it on social media. In my opinion it doesn’t matter why Jake and Marley ended or who’s to blame.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but the song Artie sang (i think its honesty) was Cory Monteiths audition song for glee! And while I absolutely dislike Artie, I can't deny his immense talent. Never liked the original version of the song but he made me absolutely love it

Ryder should respect Marley's need to be alone for a while but he doesn't owe Jake anything. Jake only has himself to blame. HE CHOSE to cheat on Marley MULTIPLE TIMES. HE CHOSE to be an even bigger dick and flaunt other girls in her face, including the one he cheated with. So forgive me for not feeling the least bit sorry for him.

This episode made me realise how good Billy Joel's music really is.
I agree about Jake/Marley/Ryder. It's not just the fact that Jake cheated MULTIPLE TIMES but it's how he acted afterwards. Begging for Marley's forgiveness while flirting with other girls and flaunting it in her face is messed up. Also, I wanted Marley and Ryder together but she definitely needed time before jumping into another relationship. And even though I'm actually one of the few people that can seperate the actor from the character, when Ryder said "I'll never hurt you" and sang "An Innocent Man" to Marley I got the chills (and not the good kind).
I agree that Sue is just not funny anymore and she becomes more unlikable every episode. She constantly criticises Will (granted, with good reason) but she's no better. Invading people's space, demeaning and belittling the Glee kids, bullying and attacking students etc. Plus I feel even her love for Becky is toxic and abusive. She just uses her to do her dirty work and doesn't want what's best for her. Becky is also just really mean and is basically a mini Sue.
I loved the NY scenes. The dynamic between them is so funny and entertaining. I remember after this episode aired there were memes regarding Blaine wanting to be a doctor, like "Glee's Anatomy". Which is funny cuz now Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) is one of the new interns on Grey's Anatomy. Matthew Morrison was in a few episodes too and his character made Mr.Schue and even Sue look like angels.

If you think Sue is bad now, no spoilers but wait until season 6 💀
I adore this episode not for the terrible storylines (except Samchel bc I kinda like that pairing 🙈) but I love Billy Joel’s music so this episode is one of my favourites from season 5, even though my mum says it’s wrong for me to like his music because “teen girls like little mix“. It’s great to hear Santana sing we haven’t heard her for a few episodes and I love her. I am a Santana and Rachel fan, no matter how contradictory that is, I’m also a Quinn fan, a Brittany fan, a Blaine and Kurt fan, I pretty much like the whole cast. Luckily as we progress further into season 5 we get to see more of Santana :)

This episode gets a little under appreciated. I guess because it’s between 2 crazy episodes, but I like it. It’s about time they did a Billy Joel tribute given how many songs he let them sing for free. (I think) It’s basically the calm before the storm given what the next one is. Tho the NY storyline is fine. It’s just the Lima one that’s insane. There are also 2 fantastic numbers in next episode despite the weirdness. But the rest of the season isn’t nearly as goofy/cringe if you ask me.

I also still like Jake despite what he did to Marley and it may not be a popular opinion but I side with Jake in the whole Ryder/Marley thing. Ryder spent so much time being a friend to Jake and helping him with his relationship with Marley then the second it’s over between them, he basically says screw you to Jake and makes a move on Marley. I personally have never liked Ryder and think what he’s doing is wrong too. I feel like Jake is just acting like this because of what Marley said to him at the beginning. Yes he cheated and did so intentionally but his behavior since is definitely not who he has been even before dating Marley. They really know how to make characters go from one extreme to the other. Like Sam, his drastic change from season 3 to 4 and 5 with how dumb they made him. Even his college visit in this episode was insane with what came out of his mouth at the end. Quinn is another prime example with her drastic changes from one season to the next. I’ll keep saying it, the writers of this show only know one way to break up couples and how to destroy character development.
