TAYLOR SWIFT: MISS AMERICANA (2020) MOVIE WATCH PARTY

Comments

This gave me the warm and fuzzies! I fell off from Taylor shortly before reputation because I was busy with life and didn't have much internet! then tik tok started posting the midnight mayhem with me videos and I got intrigued, listened to Midnights when it was released and found myself enjoying it a lot! A couple of weeks later, I put on the reputation tour on netflix and quickly found myself being a Swiftie again. I watched this afterward and had exactly the same reaction as you! I fell in love with her over the course of Miss Americana and I'm so glad because she's such a bright light in my life now! She truly is an amazing person who's so much more than the media and her haters would ever have you believe. Anyways just wanted to say I'm here for the Swift vibes after watching so many of your videos on youtube and needing more! Absolutely adore your content and how you love Taylor and this has been a much needed distraction from bad life stuff so I'm extra appreciative!

Dawn Block

Little late watching your full video on this one...when you asked if her parents are still together or not, I was so sure they were but looked it up and learned they actually split in the middle of Taylor's rise to fame but are both still very good friends and are always there for Taylor and her brother. So they still work together since they are like the COO and CFO to her CEO haha.

Boone_girl

I have loved Taylor since Love Story came out when i was 12 years old and i first heard her! Been a Swiftie for 15 years now so more than half of my life and will be one for the rest of my life!

Tayla Dennis

ooh did you get to go see her at the Era Tour?

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I'm always struck watching this after the eras tour. I'm wondering if this taylor would believe that she would be as big as she is at 33.

Meghan

Yea thats after Folklore :)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I would love to see you look at her reputation album, when she felt like her life was falling apart after everything and how she turned it around. I am a huge swiftie and have been since I was 14 years old. I'm now 30 and still love her music. Her lyrics mean the world to her and it shows! She writes about what she truly believes in. I can't wait to see you explore her music more and more.

Laydee Lozza

I feel like I have a similar story. Media was so cruel to her and I fell for it

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I used to listen to her when she first came out in country radio and then as her music went more pop I rarely listened to her. But watching this made me have such respect for her. All I ever heard was what the media blasted about her so I never became a big fan. I liked the few songs I heard from TV or movies but never actively searched her new music or downloaded it. Now that I’ve watched this and seen a glimpse of the person behind the medias portrayal I have gained so much respect for her. She’s incredible

Teri

I excited to get to knwo her more and more

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Its starting to happen

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

3 hours with a set list of 44 songs .... OMG!!! wow!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Wait!? Folklore isn't her latest album??

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

You and me both! Americana made me happy to start doing more Taylor content

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I just became a Swiftie. I was on youtube, and went down a black hole and ended up listening some Taylor Swift songs. And they were okay..but then I watched Miss Americana, and like you, I became so excited to listen to more. I think something I think is amazing about her is her lyricism. She isn't just a song writer, she's a lyricist. And she has beautiful songs and super scathing songs. Her newest album Midnights really made me fall in love her with.

Kristen J

Also, can’t wait for you to watch the live Rep tour on Netflix! Still my fave album.

Emma Daisy

Audrey thinking Folklore is her latest album ❤️ So happy you’re covering Taylor, I’m older than you but discovered her after she released her Reputation album and slowly became a Swiftie since. When Gleeks and Swiftie’s collide xxx

Emma Daisy

So I already watched this but forgot to comment. I am so excited for you to be discovering Taylor who is literally the music industry. There is so much for you to react to. You need to watch the Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix. And all her music videos but especially All Too Well short film. I also suggest listening to her albums in chronological order. In 2018, Taylor signed with Republic Records after her contract with Big Machine Records was expiring. For years she tried to buy her masters, but was not given a chance unless she signed another contract that would require her to create 6 more albums under the label in exchange for the masters of the first 6, which she felt was unacceptable. In June 2019, Scooter Braun purchased Big Machine from Scott Borchetta and became the owner of the masters of her first 6 albums. This led Taylor to re-record her back catalog. She has released two re-recorded albums, Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version). Tomorrow, July 7th, she will release Speak Now (Taylor's version). Taylor is also currently on the Eras Tour, which broke the record for most concert tickets ever sold in a single day at 2.4 million. The show is groundbreaking because she's going through all of her albums, and the concert is over 3 hours with a set list of 44 songs. Fun fact: In the music video for ME!, which is the song she and Brendon collaborated on, he gives her a cat. Taylor actually adopted that cat and named him Benjamin Button (from the movie). She also has two cats before, Meredith (after the character from Grey's Anatomy) and Olivia Benson (after the main character from Law & Order: SVU, who both appeared in the video. Also, both of the actresses, Ellen Pompeo and Mariska Hargitay, appeared in Taylor's music video for Bad Blood (along with a lot of other actors/singers/models). Taylor was in a 6 year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn, but unfortunately they broke up 3 months ago. Joe even co-wrote/co-produced 10 of her songs released from 2020 to 2022 under the pseudonym William Bowery.

Heida

As swifties we love seeing people experience Taylor for the first time so it's great that you haven't listened to all of her music. Even as a fan I find that the radio singles can get quite annoying because she's great at writing catchy melodies that get stuck in your head and they end up being so over-played... but once you get to the album cuts with the deep lyrics you'll really see why we all appreciate her so much ❤️

Liam Mcfarlane

I saw your video recommended to me on YouTube so I immediately joined your Patreon so I could watch 😂 Taylor Swift is such an anomaly. When she became popular the media really painted her as this vapid pop artist who is a serial dater. It's strange because when you really dig into her albums she is an incredible artist, in all meaning of the word. She writes and produces all of her music, directs all of her videos. And then you get people STILL saying all she does is write breakup songs. How frustrating it must be for her to be labeled as such, and for all her hard work to be just diminished like that. I always get chills when I hear her say that this is her last opportunity to be mainstream success. This was before folklore, evermore and midnights. Albums that have smashed records like crazy. She's on tour right now that is projected to be the biggest earning tour ever. She literally deserves all of this success.

Brianna

Yess!! Just went looking for that reaction and couldn’t find!!

codenamewitch xx

I second this! I’m excited for this reaction!

Elizabeth

I know you said at the beginning that you’ve already watched the folklore long pond sessions and I was just curious on when you plan to release that? No rush, I’m just so excited to see you reacting to my favorite artist! 😁

Tory

it's slowly hapening haha

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Based on your reaction, I think you're really gonna love the Lover and Midnights albums! And the lesser known songs on 1989

Sophie

taylor swift is honestly incredible and her journey was completely worth it. as a swiftie for many years now, i could not be any more prouder to be a fan <3

Lu

Okay, it was fun watching Audrey become a Taylor Swift fan in real time. I can't wait to see her watch All Too Well: The Short Film

Cody M

I wanted to do the paid request for the Reputation Stadium tour as well as the 1989 tour, but I wasn't sure how that would work considering they're both over 2 hours long and each request for anything of that length is $110

SuBin Kim

I am so excited for you, Audrey! I’m 40 also and I have been a fan of Taylor’s since her debut but I live just outside of Nashville so I was right there with her. I was 23 when she released her debut album. I had moved to Nashville 2 years before because I didn’t have anywhere else to go and I was so lost, stuck. I remember the first time I heard “Tim McGraw” play on the local country station Big 98 and my way to work and I fell in love. I was so broke at the time but I still stopped at Target on my way home after work to buy this cd (which I still have) by this girl named Taylor Swift. I played the whole album on repeat that night and that it. Swiftie for life. I could get lost in her music and in that I could just escape for a while; be someone else for a while. As her music evolved, I saw myself evolving, too. I was also always trying to be the good girl, trying to please everyone, never ruffling feathers, until I just couldn’t do it anymore. And being a Tennessee resident, I was/am also trying to be on the right side of history. I even sent emails directly to Marsha Blackburn. Yes, it is good to want to everyone to be happy, but not if it’s at the detriment of yourself. I was taught that being the quiet good girl that followed all the rules made people happy, don’t ask questions, don’t speak up for yourself, just do as you are told and everyone will be happy. It’s exhausting when your entire family’s happiness falls on your shoulders when you didn’t even ask for it. Well, here I am now just looking out for myself. I tossed the boulders off and there may have been some collateral damage in the process. Some people in my family got in the way of the boulders and they don’t exist to me anymore and I’m all the better for it.

Annie Willow

Ahh I'm so excited for all of your reactions!! Taylor is such an interesting artist to me because she has such a wide variety of music and I feel like anyone can find at least one song of hers that they love. For me, I didn't fall in love with her music until folklore/evermore because I'd never listened past her radio hits but now I have whole playlists dedicated to just her music. Anyways onto random thoughts about the video: The boyfriend she's talking about in the video is Joe Alwyn - they were together for a long time but have recently broken up :(( So much of the criticism she received at the start of her career was so uncalled for - not just the whole Kanye debacle but also things like the comments from John Mayer - and it's amazing how far she's come despite all the negativity and misogyny directed at her. There's actually a whole subset of swifties nicknamed swemos because they like/d emo music. I may not like him so much now but I was so excited when I first heard Brendon was going collab with Taylor and now I'm even more hyped knowing Hayley Williams (of Paramore) and FOB are going to be on Speak Now (TV)!!

James

Little Mermaid 2 is tomorrow, then hairspray on saturday, then Pitch Perfect 2 two weeks later. Idk when HSM 2 will come out.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

*chanting* One of us! One of us! One of us! 😈😄 No but seriously I'm so happy you're getting into Taylor and her music. She's a beast when it comes to songwriting and her music is so damn good. I've been a fan (now a stan lol) of hers since I saw Love Story on tv, which was probably 14 or 15 years ago. Which is crazy for me cause I never liked an artist for that long. Me (and a shirt ton of other swifties) have been with her through all her hights and downs and supported her through her hardest times. She's almost like a family member for me now😅 To answer some questions; Her parents are divorced. I'm not sure when but I believe it was somewhere in Taylors teen years. Her boyfriend is Joe Alwyn, a british actor but they sadly broke up this year after 6 years of being together :( The song with Brendon Urie is ME! and yea the video is crazy😂 Fun fact: Beyoncé actually got Taylor on stage when she won an award to give Taylor her chance to shine, which she didn't get because of Kanye. I always had mad respect for Beyoncé for this

Patrick Rivera

you'll be the 40 year old swiftie!! I'm 32 and still don't know a lot of her music so I'm excited too!!!

Andreu Boada de Atela

Are any of hairspray, HSM 2 or pitch perfect 2 coming out this month ?

calum1

I’m so excited for this journey. I really hope along the way we get reactions to full 1989 and reputation tours as they happen to be two of my favorite Eras along with Red. The two Eras that over the years have really grown on me is Lover and Speak Now. Think looking back Lover was really underrated. Of course with upcoming release of Speak Now Taylor’s version I could not be more excited.

KyraB

I love seeing someone slowly becoming a swiftie lmao.

Ju

Real quick explanation, after the Kanye incident and Dr Phil said “he took it from a 17 year old girl because he could” he was explaining how Kanye felt confident enough to pull that stunt with Taylor and not someone else because he thought it would be easier to do it to a young new female artist instead of ‘somebody his own size’. Just like when bullies will pick on the little, defenseless, vulnerable ones instead of someone their own size. Just wanted to explain cuz I know you were confused by that comment. P.s. to whoever requested this, I love you for this! This is my favorite documentary and it was a treat to watch you fall in love with her just like I did :)

MS

Taylor is becoming the largest musician we have ever seen. She’s re-recording her first six albums because her old label sold them out from under her, and so she’s taking them back by re-recording them now under her own label. She made the blind trust fall with it at first, no one has ever done that before and she didn’t know how fans would react. But they all realized what this meant to her, and now her re-recordings have more streams than the originals. She’s winning awards for albums that haven’t won before because she’s rereleasing them and adding in songs that she wanted to be on them- no matter the length of the album. And her fans are listening to them all. She’s selling out stadiums that a solo female artist has never sold out before. She hit peak popularity back in 2015/2016 with 1989, and has hit that popularity for a second time and shot it through the roof. At the age of 33. She’s not slowing down anytime soon! She’s been recently spotted recording again in NYC! They were right about one thing in this documentary- Taylor IS the music industry.

Emma Floyd

Ahh yay can't wait to watch later tonight! Love this doc.

Jackie Warner

You really do have to watch the reputation stadium tour special. The live performances are just so good. Getaway Car is one of my favs to sing in the shower. Rep is easily in my top 3 TS albums. Joe Alwayn was her boyfriend for 6 years. It was her longest relationship. They broke up earlier this year, but her most recent album, Midnights details the breakdown of their relationship. It'll be interesting to see what you think of the Taylor's version versus the original version of albums in terms of vocal progression.

Mia

I'm so glad you reacted to this first (besides folklore), it just makes me even more excited for you to go on the t swift journey. Her debut album was the first CD i ever owned as a kid and I've loved her to pieces since.

Tiffany T
