BUFFY S01E06 WATCH PARTY

The lack of season long story arc is pretty much the problem with season 1 in my opinion. That's why everyone says if you can hold on through this first season it's gets really really good! That being said, there are episodes sprinkled in that set up story. I'll often tell people to just watch those and they'll get the gist before moving on. I won't spoil it by telling you which ones though. You'll definitely like the next episode!

So with season long story arcs, they weren't really a thing yet - most series were episodic, with mythos episodes tossed in here and there (like how there have been a few episodes about The Master). There had been a few shows before and while Buffy was airing (like X-Files) that had them - but Buffy was one of the shows that demonstrated that a season long arc does work and that people will tune in to a show that requires you to watch every week.

Once Upon a Time is one of my favorite shows! If you ever need another show to do a watch party for, I’d highly recommend this one.

Yay, that's my request and I can't wait. You won't see August in it though, he leaves before the musical episode If you've never seen any of Once Upon a Time you might find the whole thing confusing. If you have questions I can answer them, the show is my guilty pleasure lol

People keep saying Xander grows up and in some ways that is true, but in his attitude toward Buffy and Willow dating I really don't see it, his jealousy gets the better of him every time and he becomes aggressively snarky

Well it really isn't a spoiler because it is literally called Angel, but yes. 😀 also more of the over arching plot is continued. Every Buffy season does have one but they also do have a lot of one offs in each season. 😁

I believe the sexual assault was not his fault or intention and that was the hyena at its height, but I also believe that those feelings leading up to the sexual assault were already there about how she wants a mean and dangerous guy, even though we haven't seen Angel be mean he sees "standoffish" as being mean to Buffy, I guess. Him thinking those thoughts about her combined with how much he wants her and is angry she chooses other guys all led up to the hyena causing him to sexually assault her. I don't think he would have done that at all without the hyena possessing him for sure.

Yea but we dont know exactly how much those feelings were hightened. He clearly was out of his control so I dont feel he needs to appologize. It seems like he was more embarrased and thats his reasoning for not saying anything. Yes what he didnt wasnt ok, but I wouldnt consider him at fault. Then again its a show so we really dont knwo for sure

At the end of the episode, Giles reveals that Xander actually remembers everything that he did as a hyena and doesn't have memory loss like he was pretending with Buffy and Willow. Just a side note, I think that is a really crappy thing for him to do instead of taking accountability and apologizing. The thing is...he had those feelings in him, the hyena just made him more aggressive. I honestly hate the whole "come on we both know you want it" line 🤢 I am so glad that Buffy calls it felony sexual assault when describing it. Xander has these really aggressive and bitter feelings towards Buffy because she is interested in other guys. He eventually grows up, but that is kind of a staple of his personality that they mention more than once. I can't wait for you to meet the next principle though 🤣 you're gonna love them.

When Xander at the end said, "Shoot me, stuff me, put me on display." He was referencing taxidermy. Which is when people stuff animals and put them on display, such as a deer head on someone's wall.
