I think she made an artistic choice just to be different. She has stated that she wasn't a belter until she got to be in Glee but what she liked was soft ballads and even auditioned with a soft song but never really got many opportunities to do that on the show. And hearing a couple of things she's done lately, it sounds a lot of what she did here. I personally find this song so ugly I don't care who sings it, I always find it annoying XD.

2022-03-09 03:11:17 +0000 UTCI definitely remember thinking when I saw it the first time that it worked really well with the runs, better than I expected (because we can get nervous about popifying this stuff too much!), but that it almost feels like she was told she could either powerhouse it OR do the runs, and she chose to do the latter, if that makes sense? I do love it though. ((edit: I love Jacob! DO ITTTTT))
