Hey everyone! Jonathan here. I am frankly THRILLED to bring you this podcast. I've been working on it for awhile, and I'm pumped for it to finally see the dang light of day. The first episode (dropping Monday) will be about LORD OF THE FLIES. I'm starting with this one because it was the book that somehow came up the most in the context of "oh my god, you've never read ________?" THAT ENDS NOW. (Well, technically it ended last year, because that was when I actually read it, but whatever). Now, I can confidently say "YES, I have read Lord of the Flies, thank you very much, in fact I have a podcast about it. Oh, what's this? Canapés? Don't mind if I do." (Yes this scenario is one of the many swanky literary parties that I absolutely 100% go to all the time.)
But seriously, though. This is a great book, and it's sadly still quite relevant, because it delves into issues of power, demagoguery, and the social contract as we know it. Sound familiar? Yeah...
So if YOU have read Lord of the Flies by William Golding give this first episode of Shoulda Books a listen! And, honestly, even if you haven't read it, I think you would still enjoy it. Am I biased? SURE. But I said what I said.
My guests for this episode are MJ Smith and Miles Bonsignore, and we had a h*ck of a time. Sadly, no canapés were present. I'm sorry about that. If this does well, Zach said I could have a canapé budget and you better believe I'm gonna hold him to that.
Cheers,
Jonathan
