About the project

The programmer and I did not have a connection regarding the story, sadly. I must admit that I feel a bit strange traveling in the text during the game.

I don't want to talk much about it, but it seems important that there is a connection between what the author wants and what the programmer will do.

I need your opinion on this, a clear opinion of the alpha

You can be totally honest from the art, history, mechanics etc

*I hope it's something interesting now that the game is here-

So I tried the demo, and yes there definitely is some polishing needed here and there, but for the most part, it was still a very charming and entertaining little first look at this project. I applaud the whole team who worked on this immensely for making it. The pros; The premise is good. An aggressive, buff, chimeric beast left alone for years with pain in his heart at the wrongful treatment he has received suddenly is shown a kinder and empathetic side to humanity in the form of the player character, sparking a bond that blossoms into romance and then into heated sexual desire. I love it. I also love the character of Marduk. I like the idea of having this big, loud-mouthed, stubborn, and larger-than-life character be brought down to Earth and made more sensitive by the player character, while the player character themself gets to know more about them and understands Marduk's past and struggles. I enjoyed the folk tale or legend aesthetic of the story with the storybook opening. I really enjoyed the voice clips used for Marduk as the deep/gruff voices used fit him perfectly and I do like that there is some witty humor sprinkled throughout so as to not make this a strictly serious story. The backgrounds used were also very nice, pleasing to the eyes, and helped further engage me and immerse me in this world. As for cons; The choice of music in certain scenes could be different. I noticed the beginning introduction to Marduk had some loud bombastic track that felt off-putting to what is supposed to be an intimate moment between our characters. It's the first time Marduk has interacted with a human and the music that plays sounds like it would more fitting for a tense scene such as a fight. There are a couple grammar issues scattered throughout but nothing too serious that can't be changed. The buttons at the bottom of the dialogue box were difficult to decipher. If possible, perhaps a text box can appear when you hover your cursor over them as to let players know what they're about to click? Or maybe text underneath the icons such "Gallery" or "Settings" to give better direction for players. It was a little confusing going back and forth between "Narrator" and "Protagonist". I'm assuming both are the same character so perhaps just choose one title and go with that. Marduk's personality could be a bit more clearly defined, as he went from being this gruff and angry character traumatized with being tortured by the King and thrown into solitude for years, to then being gleeful and happily saving the main character and enjoying their company in his cave, even though he was angry earlier when he assumed the protagonist was related to the king? Lastly, the interactive game that appears towards the end was a bit confusing to play around with. I'm assuming it's supposed to be a touching simulator where you rub Marduk's chest but it was difficult on where exactly I was meant to touch. I would rub up and down and get these heart pawprints, but nothing would happen and so I was worried I would be stuck here, but then after a while, something finally happened and it showed me that the demo had ended. All in all, for a small mini project like this it is still very impressive how much you and the programmer got done in the amount of time you had. With this being a demo, of course, some aspects such as story and pacing are going to be simplified as to give an overall idea as to what this game entails in a short amount of time. The presentation is good, the art style is amazing, and the characters have good potential to be great. Just a couple of fixes here and there and you could maybe have something jaw-dropping. That's only if expanding on this and making it into a fuller gaming experience is your ambition moving forward. For what it is right now, it's still worthy of praise. *pats back Great job to you and all your partners on this project.

Oh, I forgot, but I did have one mechanic critique. I figured out the stuff at the end, but more dialogue (or visuals) that hints at what actions should be taken was probably needed. Otherwise, the mechanics were obviously not revolutionizing the genre, but they worked, mostly made sense, and felt good from a UI perspective.

I don't know what your expectations are versus a final product, but this seems pretty good so far. In general it seems to have a good story hook spiced with some humor. I didn't really have any issues getting through the demo, so no bugs that I saw. In terms of critique I have a general sense of the plot and maybe also Marduk's personality, but I would say it needs a little polish and narrative fleshing out (e.g., Murduk's anger seems simultaneously generalized to humans, but also about something specific in the past?) However, I think the potential is there. So rating this as a demo would say: plot - 7, visual assets - 9, audio assets - 8, character - 6. If I was assessing this on whether I felt it was a complete demo or not I would say it is about 80% there, but need 1-2 more script pass throughs. Hope that helps!

Man this is looking great so far, especially for being a first version, and the intro with the book was a very cool touch, and of course, the artwork is awesome so you should be proud! Can't wait to see what comes next. Just one thing, it'd be great if there was an option or a shortcut to hide the dialog box then the dialog is stopped or something like that, to be able to see the whole image behind. So congratulations! Great work again!
