2025-03-24 23:39:03 +0000 UTCI like this episode as a concept and some of how they pulled it off, but a downside of Stephen Moffats writing tends to be that he sacrifices character development and connection for complex plot lines... Like you said, the quick wrap up to get out of the predicament was a bit of a leap and the idea that the Doctor would abandon Rose on an empty ship in the middle of nowhere with no plan getting back is so out of character and switches so drastically from the relationship that has developed between them so far! I don't think I would like the Doctor's character at all if he was that quick to ditch his companions in other episodes! 🤷🏻♀️

The fact that the Doctor made the promise, and he WANTED to take her with him, but he was forced to break it 😭 tragic And I love that it doesn’t spell everything out for you - that the only hint we get as to why they chose Reanette in particular, and why they need her brain, is just because the ship is named after her lmao but the doctor doesn’t get those answers Also makes you wonder what it would be like for the Doctor to have a companion from the (our) past travelling with him in the Tardis 👀
