She was covering for him with their boss. But yes, as Neil said, there are a fair number of cliffhangers in DW and the Slitheen show up multiple times in season one.

2024-10-13 19:29:20 +0000 UTCYou'll get a fair number of cliffhanger/2-parters with this show. And who doesn't like a good cliffhanger? That said, personally I hate the Slitheen. I'm all for a good "body snatcher" story - it's a tried and true sci-fi/horror trope and not hard to do well, but the endless childish fart jokes totally ruin them for me. Doesn't matter, this is gonna be such a fun journey!
