*Chapter 36: Did I Let You Go?*

The three ninjas glared angrily at Touji.

"Where did this Might Guy come from? We were totally fooled by Touji."

Three members of the Anbu were tricked by a twelve-year-old kid. If word got out, they would be laughed at endlessly.

However, they couldn't help but admire Touji.

His incredible shuriken technique, using the repeated collisions of the shuriken to change its trajectory and ultimately hit the target, was astonishing.

But what impressed the ninjas most was Touji's ability to toy with people's minds.

First, he shouted that Might Guy had arrived. Although the three didn't believe it, that was exactly the first step in Touji's plan.

Then, using his extraordinary shuriken technique, he attacked.

This made the three Anbu members question whether Might Guy had actually arrived.

With just two simple steps, Touji tricked the three Anbu members and rescued all three hostages.

"This kid isn't simple."

"Yeah, if he grows up, he could become a tactical genius."

"But he hasn't grown up yet, has he?"

For a moment, the three Anbu members sneered.

Touji was strong, very strong.

But his weakness was equally obvious.

He cared too much about his teammates.

Now, out of Team 3, except for Tenten, none of them had even basic mobility left, let alone combat capability.

As long as those two burdens were around, Touji wouldn't be able to escape.

"Kid, here's your chance. Take your little girlfriend and leave," one ninja sneered, walking slowly towards Touji.

Neji Hyuga's face turned dark.

He couldn't believe that, despite considering himself a genius, he had become a burden in his first real life-and-death battle.

"Touji, go! Take Tenten and get out of here!" Neji shouted with the last of his strength.

Neji knew deep down that if Touji stayed, he had no chance of winning.

Perhaps in a one-on-one fight, Touji could hold his own for a bit.

But against three battle-hardened Anbu members at once, there was no hope of victory.

Especially with someone like him weighing Touji down.

Just then, Rock Lee shakily stood up, one hand behind his back, the other stretched forward.

Rock Lee was covered in wounds, blood constantly flowing from his head, making it difficult for him to even keep his eyes open.

"Touji, take Tenten and leave. Go find Guy-sensei!"

The three Anbu members sneered again.

Find Might Guy?

There were more ninjas holding Guy back on the other side. The chances of getting him here were slim to none.

"Go on, no one's stopping the two of you."

Touji snorted and walked over to his two teammates.

"I told you, not a single one will be left behind! Tenten, you go first. Get Guy-sensei here!"

Tenten smiled slightly but then shook her head and walked to Touji's side.

"Not one person will be left behind, and I definitely won’t run away alone. We agreed to practice shuriken techniques together, after all. But seeing how skilled you are, Touji, I think I'll need you to teach me a lot more."

At that moment, Touji finally understood why they were called the Konoha Twelve.

It wasn't because they were individually strong, but because when faced with an enemy, the twelve of them would unite like a steel wall.

No matter who the opponent was, even Madara Uchiha, they would never back down.

Touji smiled slightly.

If he insisted on sending Tenten away now, her favorability towards him would probably plummet.

Since he couldn't change his teammates' minds, he'd have to change the enemy's.

"Alright then, Tenten, protect Neji and Lee. I'll handle these three."

Tenten was about to stop him, but then she saw the determined look in Touji's eyes. The words she wanted to say stuck in her throat.

The man in front of her was prepared to carry all the burden himself to keep his team safe.

At that moment, Tenten felt no fear.

Although she doubted Touji’s chances of winning, an inexplicable sense of security filled her heart.

As Touji stepped forward, the three Anbu members smirked.

They weren't afraid of Touji charging at them. What they feared was him turning and running away.

Their main target was Touji, after all. As for the three from Team 3, they had only brought their doom upon themselves.

Even if they killed all three, it wouldn't compare to taking down Touji.

The three Anbu members drew their kunai.

Their earlier carelessness had already cost one of them their life, and the remaining three were injured to varying degrees.

They couldn't afford any more surprises.

Touji stopped about ten meters away from them, crossing his hands in front of him.

"I told you, anyone who harms my people will die!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Touji's chakra began to surge.

Rock Lee, who had been barely holding on, trembled involuntarily.

"The Eight Gates!"

The Eight Gates is a technique that damages both the enemy and the user.

The further the gate, the stronger the power gained, but the greater the backlash.

"Touji is going all out for us!"

Hearing Rock Lee's sorrowful tone, Neji and Tenten both shuddered.

Rock Lee was incredibly honest and hardly ever lied.

And because of their weakness, Touji was now forced to risk everything.

[Ding! Neji Hyuga's favorability increased by three points! Current favorability: 87 points!]

[Ding! Rock Lee's favorability increased by three points! Current favorability: 75 points!]

[Ding! Tenten's favorability increased by three points! Current favorability: 76 points!]

Touji had no time to pay attention to the system's notifications as he continued to raise his chakra.

"The Eight Gates! How did this kid learn such a powerful technique?"

"Damn, Might Guy must see this kid as his successor."

"If we kill this kid, Might Guy will surely be devastated."

"Stop talking and find an opportunity to kill him. Finish the mission."

The three Anbu exchanged glances and charged at Touji with their kunai.

Despite their approach, Touji remained still, gathering more and more chakra.

The kunai were just inches away from hitting Touji.

"Fourth Gate! Gate of Pain!"

As his words fell, Touji's chakra doubled.

An invisible wave of chakra pushed outward, sending the three Anbu members flying backward.

They tumbled several meters before managing to stand up.

"The Gate of Pain! This kid opened the fourth gate! How could he learn such a difficult technique? This isn't what the intel said!"

"How would I know? I only got the intel yesterday!"

"Damn it, he's already at the fifth gate. Retreat! We can't handle him anymore! We'll kill him after the technique wears off!"

As they began to retreat, suddenly, a figure appeared in front of them, staring coldly.

"Did I say you could leave?"

The Anbu ninjas felt a chill run from their heads to their toes. Just as they were about to say something, Touji's palm slammed down, giving them no chance to speak.

Though he used a gentle palm, the force behind it was overwhelming, sending the Anbu ninja flying.

"One down!"

*Chapter 37: People You Can't Afford to Provoke*

The remaining two members of the Anbu squad looked at Touji in fear.

After opening the fifth gate of the Eight Gates Release Formation, Touji's entire skin turned crimson red, like a fierce Asura.

Even the battle-hardened Anbu couldn't help but tremble at the sight.

"Kid! Don’t come any closer. We’re just doing this for the sake of Konoha!"

Touji let out a cold laugh, moving toward them step by step like a demon from hell.

"I know. I also know who sent you. I'll definitely settle the score with him. But you should never, ever have hurt my friends!"

As Touji spoke, he struck out with two palms.

The two Anbu didn't even have time to scream before collapsing to the ground.

Tenten looked at Touji in disbelief.

The people Touji had just killed weren’t nobodies—they were seasoned Anbu members.

Ninjas of that caliber couldn't even withstand a single move from Touji.

Although she had always known Touji was strong, Tenten had never imagined that he was this strong.

At that moment, Tenten recalled something she had said to Touji earlier, and her face instantly flushed.

*Ding! Tenten’s favorability increased by 3 points! Current favorability: 79 points!*

Hinata Neji looked at Touji with excitement, clenching his fists tightly, trembling from the exertion.

A smile appeared on Neji's face.

He believed that with Touji's strength and talent, he would definitely be able to resolve the issues of the Hyuga branch family in the future.

Neji felt very fortunate that he had shielded Touji from their enemies today.

Even if it cost him his life, it didn’t matter—Touji was the hope of the Hyuga branch family!

*Ding! Neji’s favorability increased by 2 points! Current favorability: 89 points!*

Meanwhile, Rock Lee gazed at Touji with fiery eyes.

Gentle Fist is a taijutsu technique, and he was also learning the Eight Gates Release Formation.

If he could master both, maybe he could reach Touji's level.

Then he could challenge Neji and finally defeat him!

*Ding! Rock Lee’s favorability increased by 3 points! Current favorability: 78 points!*

As the last of the enemies lay lifeless, the red hue from Touji’s Eight Gates Release Formation gradually faded away.

Without the support of the gates, Touji swayed and collapsed forward.

However, instead of hitting the hard ground, he landed on something soft.

He heard Tenten’s concerned voice in his ear.

“Touji-kun, are you okay?”

“I’m fine, just a minor injury. Go help Neji and Lee with their wounds first.”

Tenten didn’t leave. Instead, she placed Touji’s head on her lap and began tending to his wounds with bandages and supplies.

“Thank you. If it weren’t for you, we’d all be dead here.”

Touji smiled bitterly. If it hadn’t been for his involvement, Team 3 wouldn’t have gotten caught up in this battle.

But he didn’t want to explain anything.

Because at this point, Team 3 already saw Touji as their most cherished friend.

No explanations were necessary.

It was simply a matter of: "You’re in trouble, and I’ll help."

However, Touji knew he had to deal with the people from Root.

If this issue wasn’t brought to light, he would be endlessly hunted down in the future.

This time, he had been able to protect his friends. But what about the next time?

"Danzo Shimura, just you wait!"

At that moment, a green figure leaped down from the sky.

It was Might Guy, covered in wounds of varying sizes. Although none of them were too serious, anyone who could hurt Guy was definitely not to be underestimated.

Guy saw Neji and Rock Lee on the ground and immediately rushed to Touji’s side.

"Kid, are you okay?"

“I’m fine. I just opened five gates, so I’m experiencing some backlash.” Touji shrugged it off with a smile, then glanced at the nearby corpses. “But all the enemies are dead.”

Guy’s face instantly darkened.

He walked over to the bodies, removing their fox masks.

Suddenly, Guy shuddered, and the fury on his face seemed to cool by half.

The people behind this were individuals even Might Guy couldn’t afford to offend!

Guy’s expression turned grim as he walked back to Touji, but then quickly returned to his usual self.

“The aftereffects of the Eight Gates can’t just be bandaged. I’ll take care of Touji’s wounds. Tenten, go tend to Lee and Neji.”

Tenten reluctantly left Touji’s side with an “oh.”

Might Guy quietly tended to Touji’s injuries, looking like a man whose soul had been drained.

At that moment, Touji’s sharp eyes locked onto Guy.

“Guy-sensei, how long until I can move freely?”

“Once I finish treating you, and you’ve recovered some chakra, you’ll be able to move. But if you want to fight, you’ll need more time,” Guy replied with a smile, then noticed Touji’s expression. His face turned serious.

“What are you planning to do?”

“There’s something I’ve been putting off for too long. I need to take care of it.”

Seeing Touji’s determination, Guy grew anxious.

“Kid, don’t do anything reckless. That’s an enemy not even Kakashi and I can handle. Just wait until you’re stronger—then they won’t be a problem!”

Touji gave a dry laugh and looked at Neji and Lee.

"I don't want my friends to be in constant danger because of me. This isn’t about pride; it’s about keeping them safe!"

*Ding! Might Guy’s favorability increased by 2 points! Current favorability: 94 points!*

Guy looked at Touji for a long time, then suddenly burst into laughter.

“Touji, you’d make a great Hokage. If that’s how you feel, then I don’t care how powerful they are—I’ll go with you!”

Touji was taken aback.

Because of the anime, he had always thought of Guy as a goofy, comedic character.

But now that he had gotten to know Guy personally, he realized that Guy was surprisingly reliable—a real man, full of charisma!

Touji had originally planned to face the enemy alone, but now, with Guy by his side, he felt much more confident.

"Alright, your wounds are treated. Once you’ve recovered a bit, we’ll go together!" Guy finished treating Touji and motioned to Tenten.

“Tenten, take Touji to the Hyuga clan.”

Tenten’s eyes lit up at the thought of escorting Touji home.

This was definitely a great opportunity!

Although, she wasn’t sure why they were going to the Hyuga clan.

As she carried Touji away, Kakashi suddenly appeared beside Guy. He performed the Shadow Clone Jutsu, sending clones to carry Neji and Lee back.

“Guy, you don’t have to come with me. This matter has nothing to do with you,” Kakashi said.

“You think I’m doing this for you? If it weren’t for Touji, I wouldn’t care where you died!”

With that, the two of them shared a smile and laughed together.

*Chapter 38: I Dare Anyone to Stop Me*

“Lord Shimura, the assassination failed!”

A ninja wearing a fox mask kneeled before Shimura Danzo, his whole body trembling, betraying his inner fear, though his facial expression remained hidden.

"Failed, huh? As expected, this kid isn't simple."

Danzo's face showed no emotion as he closed the scroll in his hand and waved dismissively.

"You may leave for now. Let me think this over."

“Yes!”

The ninja felt a wave of relief as he slowly backed toward the door.

Opening the door, he was greeted by the sight of a silver-haired guy in punk-style clothing and another wearing a green tracksuit that made him look like some kind of strange creature.

“Holy crap!”

Though Kakashi Hatake greeted him quite politely, the ninja’s heart skipped a beat, and his hand instinctively reached for his tool pouch.

"No need to be so tense; we’re not here to cause trouble."

Might Guy grabbed the ninja’s wrist with one hand, smiling as he spoke.

"Let them in."

Danzo’s voice came from inside, and the tension in the ninja’s body eased, though his eyes stayed on the pair.

Kakashi and Guy put away their playful expressions and solemnly walked up to Danzo.

“Speak. Why have you come here?”

Kakashi’s eyes briefly flashed with anger, but he quickly controlled it. However, Might Guy didn’t hold back his emotions, slamming the table and shouting:

“Stop what you’re doing!”

Danzo sneered, placing the scroll on the table, then looked Might Guy up and down.

Since Guy had spoken so bluntly, Danzo decided to get straight to the point. He turned his gaze to Kakashi.

“If you have nothing to hide, then why fear me?”

Kakashi's anger flared. He had served the Anbu faithfully for years, and as soon as he left, he became a target for assassination—and it even involved Touji.

How could he not be furious?

"What exactly did I do to make you think I’m a threat to Konoha?"

Danzo didn’t flinch at Kakashi’s roar. Instead, he laughed coldly.

“You haven’t done much. It’s just that after so many years in the Anbu, you’ve grown accustomed to killing. Now that you’ve left, we naturally need to observe you.”

Danzo paused for a moment, then his tone became icy.

“But you killed the people watching you! And you brought back a kid with an unclear background. Shouldn’t I suspect you’ve betrayed Konoha?”

Kakashi chuckled bitterly.

He had worked tirelessly for Konoha, and now, after leaving the Anbu, he was being hunted down.

As for the so-called observation, those ninjas had nearly slit his throat with kunai.

And when he met Touji, if it weren’t for him, Kakashi wouldn’t even be standing here arguing with Danzo.

Kakashi knew why Danzo wanted him dead.

When he was still in the Anbu, he had helped Danzo retrieve something from the Land of Rain. It was obviously something shady, and Danzo wanted to silence him.

“I don’t know how I offended you, but if you want someone to take responsibility, take me. Just let Touji go!”

“That kid has an unclear background, and his skills are exceptional. I have every reason to believe he’s a spy from another village. There’s no way I’ll let him go.”

Kakashi's gaze grew cold.

He had his doubts about Touji at first, but Touji had freely shared his training methods and even helped Hinata Hyuga overcome her insecurities, making her stronger.

What kind of spy goes around doing good deeds without accessing core secrets?

If they exist, I’ll take two, please.

"You’re refusing me so directly. Aren’t you afraid I’ll do something drastic?"

"Drastic?" Danzo laughed. "You’ve stepped into my office, and you’re not leaving. This formation can only be deactivated from the outside. It’s impossible to escape from within."

Kakashi’s body trembled as he hurriedly lifted his headband, activating his Sharingan to survey his surroundings.

What he saw shocked him.

Chakra swirled around the room, moving in an orderly pattern. Clearly, a trap had been set long ago.

Kakashi reached out to touch it.

But as soon as his hand made contact, it caught fire. After a frantic struggle, he managed to extinguish the flames.

Quickly retracting his hand, Kakashi knew he could die here if he wasn’t careful.

Since Kakashi was already trapped, Danzo turned his attention to Might Guy.

“This has nothing to do with you. How about letting me be your boss? You can work under me.”

“Work under you? Are you out of your mind?”

Guy finished speaking and punched forward. The previously invisible barrier suddenly lit up with ripples.

“In that case, you can all die together!”

Danzo swiftly formed hand seals, and as the last seal was made, a massive fireball erupted from his mouth.

With no space to dodge within the barrier, Kakashi and Guy were engulfed by the flames.

"Earth Style: Mud Wall!"

A dog-headed wall rose, blocking most of the fireball.

But Kakashi didn’t feel relieved at all.

As long as they remained within the barrier, they were nothing but sitting ducks.

Especially since both had already sustained significant injuries.

“Your struggle is futile. Let’s see how you block the next one!”

As Danzo began to form seals again, the door was suddenly kicked open.

“I’m not too late, am I?”

The three men turned their heads to see none other than Touji standing in the doorway.

A smile crept onto Danzo’s face.

"So, you came too. Perfect. I’ll deal with you all at once."

Danzo took a step toward Touji, who showed no signs of fleeing and stood his ground.

“Touji, run! You can’t beat him!”

“Kid, get out of here! Don’t worry about us!”

Despite Kakashi and Guy’s shouts, Touji remained unfazed. Danzo's smile grew even wider, his hand reaching for Touji’s head.

Just as Danzo was about to grab him, Kakashi and Guy closed their eyes in despair.

Suddenly, Danzo’s hand froze, his entire body locked in a bizarre stance.

A woman, wrapped head-to-toe in bandages, walked out, smiling cheerfully at Danzo.

“Sorry, you can’t touch this kid.”

“Genjutsu? Kurenai Yuhi! You dare stand in my way? Looks like you’ve all forgotten how terrifying I can be!”

Danzo snorted, breaking free of the illusion.

“I’ll kill this kid today. Let’s see who dares stop me!”

Just as Danzo reached for Touji again, his hand was halted once more—this time by a scruffy man with a cigarette hanging from his mouth.

“Asuma!”

*Chapter 40: The Old Fox*

Shimura Danzo couldn't help but frown.

If only Kurenai Yuhi had appeared, Shimura Danzo would have taken action without hesitation.

But Sarutobi Asuma was different.

Asuma was the son of the Third Hokage, and his presence could easily influence the Third Hokage's decision.

"Asuma, are you really going to stop me?"

Sarutobi Asuma scratched the back of his head and smiled awkwardly.

"I’m not entirely sure what's going on, but since Kurenai asked me to protect this kid for a day, I have to protect him for a day."

Shimura Danzo frowned again.

He never expected that the reason for Asuma stopping him was simply to impress a woman.

However, Danzo hadn't given up yet.

Touji was exceptionally fast, and now that he was injured, this was a rare opportunity. If Danzo didn't seize it, killing Touji later would be much more difficult.

"If you want to stop me, tell your dad to come!"

Shimura Danzo snorted coldly and pushed Sarutobi Asuma aside.

Just as he was about to strike again, a familiar voice came from outside.

"Hurry up, Lord Hokage! If you're any slower, it'll be too late. Do you still want those ninja tools we sponsored or not?"

"I can't run any faster; my bones are falling apart."

Before long, Tenten came rushing in, dragging the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, by the hand. Hiruzen Sarutobi was leaning on a cane, panting heavily.

"Danzo, you can't kill this boy!"

Shimura Danzo frowned deeply.

He never imagined Touji had such influence, even managing to bring the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, to the scene.

But even so, Danzo's desire to kill Touji hadn’t diminished.

Sarutobi Asuma’s favorability was high, clearly due to Kurenai Yuhi’s influence. As for Shimura Danzo’s low favorability, Touji could understand that.

However, the favorability of Sarutobi Hiruzen had mysteriously dropped by ten points.

Touji let out a cold laugh.

The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, truly was an old fox—he harbored resentment in his heart, but his face showed nothing. Such a person was far more dangerous than an outright villain.

But thinking about it made sense. Hiruzen Sarutobi had worked alongside Shimura Danzo for many years.

If Touji were to believe that Hiruzen Sarutobi hadn't picked up any of Danzo’s tricks, he’d be fooling himself.

Whether it was the incident with Sakumo Hatake or the Uchiha clan, the Third Hokage's shadow loomed large.

It was clear that Hiruzen Sarutobi was a sly fox hiding in plain sight.

There was even a possibility that Hiruzen and Danzo were the same type of person, only Hiruzen hadn't shown it openly.

Fortunately, the system had warned Touji; otherwise, he would have been completely unaware, thinking Hiruzen was a good person.

"Danzo, you'd better not stop me today. I’m determined to kill this boy!" Shimura Danzo snorted again, walking toward Touji.

Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed and smiled helplessly.

Although he was the Third Hokage of the Leaf Village and the highest leader of the Leaf Ninja Village, Shimura Danzo had been his partner for decades. Some things simply couldn’t be stopped.

"Who's trying to kill Touji!"

A furious voice echoed, and Hyuga Hiashi, dressed in white robes, walked out, his Byakugan glaring sharply at Shimura Danzo.

Shimura Danzo halted his actions and frowned, staring back at Hiashi.

Hiruzen Sarutobi was Danzo's childhood friend and long-time partner, so there were some things he couldn’t prevent.

But Hyuga Hiashi was different.

Hiashi was the leader of the Hyuga clan, representing the entire Hyuga family.

Although the Hyuga family was aligned with the Hokage’s lineage, they were still a powerful and influential faction within the village.

If Touji were forcibly killed, the village would lose the support of the Hyuga clan, which would make future matters very difficult.

Moreover, ever since the death of Hyuga Hizashi, Hiashi had been at odds with the current leadership.

So, offending Hiashi was not an option.

However, Touji and Kakashi Hatake had to die!

"Hiashi, are you really going to side with this traitor? Or are you saying that the entire Hyuga clan is betraying the Leaf?"

Danzo sneered internally.

He had no valid reason to keep pursuing Kakashi, but with Touji, the reasoning was abundant.

Touji's identity papers had been issued by Kakashi Hatake.

The reason Danzo hadn’t intervened earlier when Kakashi helped Touji get his papers was precisely to avoid this confrontation.

Hyuga Hiashi frowned.

He had investigated Touji’s background, and it was clear that Touji was a man without parents, a teacher, or any birth records.

But Touji had talent!

For this reason alone, even if it meant opposing Shimura Danzo, Hiashi had to step forward.

Yet now, Danzo was accusing him of treason.

If Hiashi continued to protect Touji, it would be seen as a betrayal of the Leaf. But if he abandoned Touji, the Hyuga clan’s chance at resurgence would be lost.

Hiruzen Sarutobi took a long drag from his pipe, letting out a cold laugh as he walked over to Danzo.

"Danzo, Hiashi must have a good reason to support this boy. Why don't you ask him again?"

Danzo cast an appreciative glance at Hiruzen. After all these years, his partner could still read his mind effortlessly.

With that, Danzo turned toward Hiashi.

"Do you have complete identification for Touji? Who are his parents, and which midwife delivered him?"

With each question Danzo asked, Hiashi took a step back.

His mind was in turmoil, unsure how to respond.

Danzo's lips curled into a slight smile. Just as he was about to launch his next verbal assault, a cold laugh echoed in his ear.

"Danzo, do you remember those experimental subjects from back then?"
