**Chapter 213: The Restored Timeline**

As Atreus received a new top-tier divine sword, a clear look of envy flickered in the eyes of the Amazonian warriors.

They knew they couldn't be envious, but that didn’t stop them from drooling over it.

"Can I touch it?" Penthesilea asked with a hint of arrogance, her tone light but eager. She didn’t mind throwing the question out there because even if Atreus refused, she had nothing to lose.

What if Atreus allowed it, though?

Atreus blinked, "I'll hold it. You can try touching the hilt."

In theory, divine weapons have souls. Atreus wasn’t sure if anything weird would happen.

He gripped the sword’s hilt, and Penthesilea, emboldened, reached out to touch it too.

 Sure enough...

The carved face on the sword’s hilt suddenly opened its eyes, revealing almond-sized, golden pupils. Ares’ metal face clearly displayed a look of irritation.

"I am the Sword of the God of War! Only the God of War may touch me! Since this is your first offense, I’ll let it slide. But do it again, and I shall kill you!"

The expression and voice were unmistakably that of Ares reincarnated.

Atreus, however, immediately sensed a difference — it didn’t have Ares' signature vibe!

Ares could be brutish, reckless, cunning, even despicable, but there was no trace of **submission** in him.

The way this sword conveyed its message, especially with the clear sense of hierarchy and its **limited self-defense** mechanism, wasn’t something the real Ares would ever display.

Anyone unfamiliar with the situation might even be fooled into thinking Ares had been subdued by Atreus.   Hippolyta cut to the heart of the matter: "Ares’ divine soul has been cleansed. It has no memories left. This is a standard weapon spirit."

Atreus chuckled. "Sword of the God of War, I command you to allow Penthesilea and Diana Prince to wield you from now on."

The sword’s spirit responded gruffly, "Since it is my master’s order, I shall comply. However, without the power of the God of War, my full strength cannot be unleashed. In this case, I am merely a sharp sword."

 "That’s enough."

Since Atreus had spoken, the two women were overjoyed. They each planted a kiss on Atreus’s cheek before eagerly testing out the sword, making the sword’s spirit, Ares, clearly uncomfortable.

The surrounding Amazons were even more envious, staring at the divine sword they couldn’t touch. It was incredibly frustrating.

But that’s the price of status.

Seeing how much they adored the sword, Atreus didn’t hesitate, "Since your weapons are gone, how about using my twin blades instead?"

Both the women and the nearby Amazons were stunned.

Sure, compared to the Sword of the God of War, the **Twin Blades of Troy** were not quite as impressive.

But they were still divine weapons! Just like that, he was offering them?

"Really? My love," Diana asked, overwhelmed with joy.   "Atreus..." Penthesilea gazed at one of the blades, her lips slightly parted, tears of gratitude brimming in her eyes.

"You've fought by my side in life-and-death battles. I can't just let you go into battle without a weapon." As soon as Atreus finished speaking, he was showered with kisses.

Penthesilea didn’t hold back, swiftly claiming one of Atreus's short swords, raising it high, and laughing wildly, "Haha! Achilles, I finally have you!"

Uh, “have you” — in more ways than one, it seemed.

Her aunt had snatched up the superior **Achilles** blade, so Diana had to settle for **Hector**.

With the most important divine sword now in hand, there wasn’t much reason for Atreus to stay in this world.

After another week on the island, the three of them decided to leave.

"Are you really leaving?" Hippolyta’s voice carried a deep sense of reluctance. After all, one was her sister, and the other her daughter—both dear to her.

Diana, a little embarrassed, hugged her mother. "Don’t worry. Atreus will leave a space beacon. If you miss us, just send a signal, and we’ll come back as soon as possible."

Atreus further explained, "It’s also a test. The beacon has three modes. One is passive, so I can always know where this timeline is. The second is for emergencies—press the red button if something goes wrong. The last is a summon mode—press the green button if you want to see your family."

Hippolyta smiled. "Amazons aren’t weak. As long as I know you’re doing well, I’ll be content."

"Alright, we’re leaving now." Both queens gave her one last embrace.

Soon, the moment of farewell came.

Standing before the open portal, Atreus hesitated for a moment before saying, "I have a theory."

 "What theory?"

 "I’ll explain later."

Without letting the two women question him further, Atreus picked up Helen and signaled the others to grab hold as he activated the portal.

It was another slightly disorienting journey, but everyone was used to it by now.

By the time the three women regained their senses, they were back in the Gotham City villa. Atreus let out a long breath, "I knew it."

 "What?" Diana asked in surprise.

"The spatial coordinates I left behind... I can sense them here, on our Earth."

"What?!" The three women exclaimed in unison.

Diana, skeptical and with enough modern knowledge, immediately rushed to her room, opened her laptop, and quickly searched for information.

Before long, she stormed back into the living room, where Atreus was chatting with the others, and shouted, "History has changed!"

In front of everyone, Diana showed a historical account of World War I:

"Due to the mysterious assassination of the Greek Emperor Menelaus and several grand dukes, the second most powerful military nation in the Central Powers plunged into civil war, leading to the collapse of the alliance. This, along with the death of German General Ludendorff, is considered one of the key turning points in the Allies' victory in World War I."

The rest of the women were confused.

Catwoman asked, "Isn’t this just basic history? What’s the big deal?"

Only the four who had participated in those events understood what had happened — they had altered history. And yet, miraculously, after World War I, the course of world history remained largely unchanged. The Greek Empire’s collapse led to the formation of the same countries as before.

In other words, this world had seamlessly incorporated the altered timeline into its own history.

The timeline had essentially been restored.

This was good news, of course, since Atreus had meddled so much without causing any time paradoxes.

And yet, Atreus felt a bit of frustration.

After all, the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme of Kamar-Taj, had once helped push for the gods to relinquish their rule over Earth. Even Ares only dared to stir up trouble during World War I in secret. If they hadn’t confronted him, Ares likely would have stayed hidden.

The Ancient One... Well, she was gone at this point in time.

The new Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, was a bit more reasonable.
