My main vote for the king in crimson is how mardok has done the impossible over and over again. Time travelling class, ability to steal powers from other crestones. Made the comet into a crestone. Fooled the oracle for long enough for the plan to come into fruition. Died but crystal is missing. It’s like everything he did could not be opposed or that even the opposition was taken into account.

Kingmaker is my favorite option, but it looks like Crime and Crimson are the only two that have a shot of winning and I prefer Crime. I am interested to learn what is going on with the dragons, but the Overlord of Crime seems like it would be the most useful of the 4 options.

The power won't be vastly different - at the top of the post Void says there'll be "slight variants". It's more that the journey to get there and unlock it seems to be very different. And whilst not confirmed I'd be very surprised if the Dark Visionary unlock didn't stay across the reigns.

All paths give Simon Dark visionary powers. The it's 4 options between following, Mardok, Gargauth , Magnos, or the Unique path. Why would anyone want to follow Mardok's path. He was the weakest overlord, having less than a handfull of reigns, he didn't even have enough reigns to fully grasp the overlord class. He wasn't even the key player in creating the class, that was Simon's ancestor. Following Mardok is following the weakest and shortest path.

Considering the fact Simon was quite active during this reign i believe the next reign should be smaller in the scale of events that are happening. Going immediately after the Cobweb without getting Dark Visionary powers doesn't fit into Simons character as well. He is too smart and pragmatic for that.Furthermore considering how important Visionaries are to the story (Eligos, Euphemia and Norbelle) the birth of the first ever Dark Visionary should warrant a reign of its own. It doesn't deserve to be second fiddle to some other objective in a reign.

While the hidden Visionary Path sounds really cool, the possibility of the Prince messing with the ritual, like they tried to do with the Seasonal Key is way too high. Crimson is way more likely to give an independent Dark Visonary unlock.

I would like to point out that nowhere did it state that Simon would fail to get his Visionary powers in any of these reigns. If anything every reign here sounds like a guaranteed. My question then becomes this; do I maybe want to miss out Theater Kid Simon? (Aka the best part of the Crimson Reign) or do I for sure want to miss out on the mystery box option? Gotta be Overlord of Crime. Cobweb is the one faction that is still too mysterious for Simon to plan around, and the one liable to create the most problems going forward. Knowing more Zodiac Fiend and Noble Crestone locations will also be phenomenal long-term. On top of that, we get a unique Dark Visionary path, AND a special reign unlock. The only other one that would be interesting is Book of the Damned or Hoard of Gargauth, for previous Overlord Abyssal Chronicles and more knowledge.

I wonder what the ‘Throne of Night’ is. Maybe something inside the actual abyss? I personally am not as big of a fan of the performance-oriented runs, but King in Crimson is calling to me. I do think working with Justine could be worth it. I can’t decide if the connection to Mardok is a pro or a con. I think it’s too early to do the Cobweb run just yet (I think Simon needs to focus on the primary goal of attaining visionary powers rather than dismantling the cobweb), and it feels like Simon needs a couple more levels yet to do a proper Vouivre run. I’d be happy to see Simon do it when he is about level 57-63, especially considering the rate at which he’s patching other deficiencies. That would make him strong enough to be a threat but not strong enough to steamroll. I feel like as-is, Simon would just be a slightly noticeable grunt.

While I agree with a lot of what you are saying, I think it would be a pity if we never get to see the King in Crimson reign. The other three reigns are bound to happen since they are all integral to the process of the story and personally the Cobweb has appeared every single reign since Simon the Adventurer with the exception of the Jester King, I would like a respite from them for a while.

guys, if we don't do King in Crimson now, we never will. Every other reign is something we are inevitably going to be obliged to do; King in Crimson is likely to just get left by the wayside, and we'll never get to see Simon do cool stuff with acting and with demons.

As usual I'm advocating for Overlord of Crime. I kinda wish we did the Crimson reign beforehand (probably would have made the segway into the Cocagne Affair smoother and made Justine not feel like Evil Temu Remedia) and as much as Bard playwright Simon speaks to my soul... the Cobweb has proven time and time again that its influence is too widespread to ignore and will keep biting Simon in the ass until he gets more insider info. So Crime is my first pick (mystery route lets goooo) while Crimson is a decent enough second choice for me. Crimson is the more obvious choice and will make it feel like Simon is prioritizing getting his Dark Visionary powers up and running. While Crime is to me more important and will feel like Simon is killing two very high value birds with one stone. As for the other two… Dragon riding Overlord Simon alone sounds like it would kick 20 kinds of ass and if the other two weren't so important/obvious in comparison I might have gone for it so third place pick. Kingmaker is last due to it not having any Dragon riding Overlord. But in all seriousness I really do crave an Open Overlord reign and a part of me kinda misses Anna. Also Book of the Damned almost sounds like an Elios reign which would be Insane. But Kingmaker comes in last place by virtue of not being a Big enough priority and not having Dragon riding.

I think King in crimson makes more sense right after this reign. It seems like where Visonary darkblood is the main focus while it being a side focus in the other reigns. The overlord of crime can be done after Crimson king as the cobweb is everywhere and Simon needs to deal with them. Crimson king seems like an exclusive reign that will not show up after this while cobweb will. Also Lore into Mardok and the overlord class itself seems very interesting.

The overlord of crime makes no sense rn and the king in crimson will make no sense later. It makes s lot more sense to finish the Justine business rn and go for the cobweb later. If he get the dark visionary powers now he will not have any strong motivations for seeking Justine anymore

Personally I love when each reign is about one certain objective and considering the fact that the longest reign this far has had 20 chapters at most I think that it is better not to squeeze to much stuff in a single reign. Also the appearance of Justine in this reign makes it much smoother for it to be King in Crimson next, while I find it hard to imagine how would Simon convince her to help him in the other options.

The King in Crimson path is the only one where unlocking Dark Visionary powers is the main objective, whereas in the others it will probably be only a side quest. Its medium length is also an advantage and I think it will be the last reign where Justine Eligos would have any meaningful role. My only concern is that it is the Mardok path, because frankly I think it should be something unique to Simon without any influence from previous Overlords.

All sound good except kingmaker. I think a more peaceful run will ruin the pacing so far. The cobweb and justine arcs have been foreshadowed for a while now so it doesn't make sense to sideline those for another anna arc. Simon also did not interrupt anna's marriange to thalas despite how much he hated it, to keep her safe so it doesnt fit with his character to pursue anna with his current strength. I think this arc should come after he's powered up to the point where he can announce himself as the next overlord.

Actually very hard choices. I think Cobweb is my least favorite one but it's still like a... 8/10 choice. It's just that all of these are quite interesting. I'm currently torn between King in Crimson and Kingmaker. I'm just thinking that it might be a bit too early for Kingmaker and Elios Magnos reintroduction. But what do I know, you surprised me many times with how you fit these reigns even when I was worried. Do we still get an orgy in King in Crimson?

Hmmm, as much as I want Vouivre Delenda Est, it requires the follow-up of Hoard of Gargauth for Synergy reasons Kingmaker is nice, but i don't know, I think Simon needs to be nearer Loius and Euphemia's levels to rule properly ...yeah I think we need to root out the Cobweb or at least learn more about this organization. I think this is the first we've seen a path that was long (him stuck in rock does not count), and curious to see how that would have affected Simon's character development when he isn't constantly dying within a year haha. Really torn between the King in Crimson and Overlord of Crime. The Rogue crestone seems pretty OP given the strength of the cobweb and the ability to fairly easily assassinate the previous Mage. On the other hand the Necromancer would fit Simons fighting style very well. Not sure the Mardok visionary path would be good for Simon long term though if it deepens his connection to him. Assuming he and the previous overlords still exist in some form.
