This is just the most recent example in a lengthening string of Sony absolutely botching its first party initiative, deploying teams on projects that make no sense, purchasing studios that have never even released a game, and complicating a service game strategy that -- at least on paper -- made a lot of sense. Where does the buck stop, exactly? And how lucky is Sony and the PlayStation brand that they've been able to coast almost entirely on external content and commercial inertia all the while? Plus: MindsEye is a complete disaster, Stellar Blade becomes PlayStation Publishing's most-played single-player PC port, Capcom and Konami reveal Resident Evil Requiem and Silent Hill Remake respectively, the Outer Worlds 2's $80 price point infuriates some, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is somehow coming to PlayStation 4, and more. I hope Xbox figures out that Steam thing per today's news. When Sony does release a game I actually care about once in a blue moon, I can just play it on Xbox PC.

2025-06-15 14:29:26 +0000 UTCI’m generally a patient gamer, but regarding people waiting a year if they know that a game will be on a subscription service like Game Pass, I offer a counterpoint: people are paying for early access to games. You could make up some of the difference depending on your early access pricing model. Also, patient gamers like myself have been known to just wait until games are on sale or move into a “greatest hits” price or wait for complete or definitive versions of games anyway. Or at least wait until they’ve had a few patches. So some gamers will already wait even if they’re not told about a game being available on a subscription service, and others will pay extra just to play earlier than everyone else.

With regards to The Outer Worlds being released at $80, here the price has not gone up to £80, on both PS and Xbox, though I have not seen or heard it mentioned that the increase was for the US only. Apologies for somehow posting this under SS+.

2025-06-14 14:37:55 +0000 UTCTo Colin's reservations about RE9 being playable in both 1st and 3rd person (which I get tbh) - one of the impressions from someone who played this section (Maximilian Dood I think) mentioned that there was a note on the demo saying that this section was recommended to be played in 1st person, which makes sense as this sounds like a very horror-heavy area where you have no weapons, so the tension would be highest in this perspective. But given the rumours of Leon returning as a playable character, it's been suggested that maybe his sections would be best played in 3rd person, as they would likely be more action-heavy (like RE4). So maybe it's the case that there are different perspectives which Capcom have in mind for both Grace and Leon - assuming that's your 2 playable characters - but they're just giving you the freedom from the start to use either perspective if you like

Its funny to see how Greg has become such a Xbox fanboy in recent years, as Xbox has given them a great amount of access, interviews etc...(much like alot of gaming media tbf). Even in a bad Xbox news story he'll be very sympathetic and absolve Uncle Phil of all blame. Also it's hilarious to hear him shit on VR so much, but talk about how great his experience with the Meta Quest is whenever they sponsor a stream... I do enjoy watching a few of the guys there depending who is on, but it's long past the point where I'll listen to Greg for any gaming critiques. And they're not alone in that. It makes you more appreciate the gaming creators who pay their own way to events, don't have conflicts of interest etc
