This Week's WIP and Previews

So, a new week, and new WIP's and previews. On to the WIPs.

First we have your attempt to solo Malenia. I'm not sure if it's going well. You haven't died yet, but neither has she.

I originally intended to use the butterflies you see in the screenshot, but cut them due to bad geometry and placement. This was a tough decision. I spent a solid hour just masking them to fit just right, only to ultimately test it in VR. My disappointment was massive at seeing how bad they look. Great in 2D, horrible in VR. Still, I'm quite happy to bring SFMPOV's creation into VR, and even happier that it's Malenia.

Next up is a Final Fantasy foursome!

This was an extremely tough one to get going. The water is a on a separate loop than the core animation, which means the time to render is quite long. Long enough that I started this on Saturday, and it's still rendering today. I'm hoping I can use the pre rendered water in future iterations of this project, but I'm willing to bet that the POV is different on each and won't work right in VR. This, coupled with the intense modifications I had to make to each body and hair, leads to some very intense rendering. I'm very glad to have the 4090. Each frame is at 6+ minutes currently. When I say intense rendering, I mean it.

To be clear, this is not a slight at Lazy Procrastinator in any way. I love working with them, and their quality only continues to soar which forces me to learn and adapt. As challenging as this was to get just right, I loved every moment of it.

As this is a part of a series, I'll be releasing these over the next month as I complete them, alongside the Dark Dreams premium release. So there's a couple of multi part videos coming this month!

Now, on to the previews!

First up, we have a remaster of Kaeg's Evelyn scene that was requested on our Discord Remaster channel.

This was also a good bit of work. When requested on the Discord, they pointed out there was a lot of clipping they would like to see fixed. This was a ton of work, requiring not only posing but actual editing of the models themselves! But damn if it doesn't look great in VR. I also touched up the lighting and camera just a bit to be more realistic, without killing the established mood of the original. I just wish I could have figured out how to fix the damn lighting on the leggings, but it is what it is. I'm willing to bet the leggings won't be what you're staring at.

Last for today, we have our newest VRAR project, by Abysmal, Shmopla, and Mia. Abysmal has really turned it up a notch with their cinematogrophy on the non-VR version, and their animations skills are still improving in general. It's great to see how far they've come!

There are a couple things that need to be fixed for next time (I do realize how critical I can be, even if it's my job) but overall this turned out fantastic. Do try to keep Eliza awake, will you?
