Just a rant (Scoliosis)
Added 2023-03-12 09:17:16 +0000 UTC
Hey guys, I just want to rant a little bit.
Dont worry, the update progress is going well, I am rendering animation while typing this.
I felt that this is my place to rant since you guys would understand and would always cheer me up. Whenever I rant to my family members, they will just say I am overthinking and get angry on me.
(WARNING : HIGHLY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS BELOW)
So, recently, I had a leg injury and its really getting better alot. But last week, I felt that my body is tight, and I cant sleep on my side for 1 week+, I will always feel breathless when I do. I just ignore it and pray that I would suddenly heal.
But last week, I follow some exercise on youtube for my backbone on how to heal scoliosis because I xray show that I have mild scoliosis and I suspect that is the reason why I have tight back. And I think I overextend my back exercise and I felt breathless, and my mouth always open involuntarily, if i close it, then I would felt so breathless. So, I went to the doctor, doctor says i might just have gastric and it will cause this. I am not satisfied with the answer. So, I went to a chiropractor to try my luck.
Chiropractor diagnose me with misalign hip. My right hip (where my leg is injured previously) is higher than my left hip. And this effect my spine all the way up. And also he said my right leg has shrink in muscle too. But he said my breathlessness was caused by gastric. I am just 30 years old by the way.
Now, the chiropractor is fixing my hip and spine. He says I need to do always do stretching exercise everyday. He fix it, but its not that easy because my muscle is not strong, and the hip and scoliosis misalign again. And I have read that too much chiropractic isnt good because it may hurt the spine nerve in long term. And I might have to do stretching exercise everyday for lifetime? I am not sure.
I mean.. I am just 30 years old.. I am introvert my whole life. I never experience many things in my life... and now I have a disease that limits my ability and hopefully it will recover.. Idk...I dont want my life to end like that.. as scoliosis worsen over age. I am just 30 years old right now, what would happen in the future?
Will I ever recover? I just want to be normal human again.
If I do recover from all this. I swore. I will exercise alot and stay healthy! I hope you guys are all healthy too.
I will work on this game the whole time and also always go to the gym. Thats all that matters...
Do you guys have any experience going through this? Any info would be great!

2023-03-13 16:55:43 +0000 UTCElsa: so sorry to hear all of this, but you need some place to rant, and you know we all accept you. I do not have scoliosis but at a very young age had damage done to my leg muscles that led to my continual overuse/abuse of my back. When I was in my 30's my doctor said I had the back of a 60-year-old due to using back muscles to lift because I had no strength in my upper leg muscles. I've had issues with bulging discs the last few years and twice they talked about surgery. I was able to avoid surgery by using chiropractic, back exercises, and massage therapy. To be very honest, I don't even think about my back issues anymore, and now that I am IN my sixties... I think I may have caught up with the age of my back! LOL. Anyway, you know we all wish for your health and well-being. You have not only fans here, but friends.

When I see my fellow friends who is young like me without any problems or even those old people that have no problem in their life. I starts to feel jealous. I just want a normal life till I die. I am an overthinker too. It doesnt help at all. Thank you for sharing. Let's believe that we can beat this together~

2023-03-13 03:21:35 +0000 UTCHey Elsa, I've never had any nerve problems or anything but I've been in and out of doctors offices for years dealing with medical issues. Just last week I had to get an EKG and a separate doctor to look at the results. I'm 29 and it's frustrating as hell to worry about these things. I can barely get a grip on my life in general, but I've got to worry about my heart health too. I understand your frustrations, it's draining and to make matters worse you can't properly vent to your closest loved ones, so that just adds to your mental stress. From what I see, you're dealing with more than most people our age could even fathom. Not to mention developing a visual novel which I know takes its toll. I think you're doing a great job taking care of yourself. I know a bunch of people who would've just made excuses and gave up. But you're putting in the effort. Keep it up, your future self will thank you!

2023-03-12 15:56:53 +0000 UTCI can tell that as someone with nerve damage in the spine that stretching and exercise will help. I would some yoga and mild weight training to strengthen the muscles. It's what I do and still haven't had the surgery the doctors wanted to do 17 years ago. I walk 2km 4 times a week and do weight training and exercise at home.

2023-03-12 13:25:46 +0000 UTCYou are inspiring and you gave me hope. I hope I can overcome it too and I guess the only way is to believe that I can overcome it. You are right. Doing stretching has other benefits too. Thank you for your support!

2023-03-12 13:13:34 +0000 UTCHi, Elsa, I am 58 and have dealt with scoliosis since childhood. probably a slightly more severe case than yours. But it can be overcome. I've been a soldier and a martial artist, and while the scoliosis made that more challenging, it hasn't stopped me from having a full life. Now I mostly use yoga to address the scoliosis, but honestly I would probably do it anyway as a great thing for both body and mind. Good luck with finding your right treatment.

2023-03-12 12:31:57 +0000 UTCReally? Thank you so much for telling. I am 30, but when I was 20, my xray shows that i have scoliosis. I am not sure when did I start having it. But I dont have any knowledge about scoliosis nor the doctor told me anything about it so I just ignore and I have bad posture almost everday sometimes for long hours. Since last week, I have stretched at least 1 hour everyday, But I am just feel sad that I have to do this homework at age 30, my parents don't really stretch that much eventhough they are 60. Thx buddy!

2023-03-12 09:55:11 +0000 UTCHi Elsa, am sorry about this. I can just tell you that I'm 37 and exlerience the same shit. My scoliosis is there since I was 11 and hasn't gotten worse though. I used to have a lot of problems with tendonitis and my ankle due to a bone bruise from kitesurfing. I used to stretch everyday for like 10 minutes and it basically turned my life around and I felt as agile and flexible as I felt never before. Then I stopped due to Corona and my health declined again. Long story short: You're not alone with this. Stretching and working out are lifelong homework for many people and you benefit dramatically from doing them. Get well soon and maybe find a stretching/yoga group if you have problems doing it regularly. All the best to you!
