Not a spoiler, but there was a scene in the movie where I just wanted to scream “WHERE THE FUCK IS BETTY ROSS??” so bad.
And if you think that Betty Ross not being in Endgame is a genuine spoiler, then, oh... Oh honey... Marvel Studios hasn’t cared about Betty Ross since The Incredible Hulk”
_____
Readers, this past weekend, Marvel Studios, I mean Disney, I mean Marvel Studios accomplished something that everyone THOUGHT was gonna happen, but y’know what happens when you assume...
/The accomplishment in question that in just five days, Avengers: Endgame generated over $1.2 billion globally./
1.2 million... in 5 days. I wonder how much of that is gonna be taxed next year?
Like I stated before, Readers. A lot of us knew it was gonna be a pretty big opening weekend for the movie
But some of us didn’t know it was gonna be over a billion dollars big, considering how how long it took Avengers: Infinity War and Captain Marvel to achieve the same goal
Then there’s the fact that despite them saying that they could handle the traffic, every single ticket pre-order provider was damn near IMPOSSIBLE to navigate through once they announced that tickets were on sale in North America
Like, I tried buying my ticket through Atom because y’know, I like their service. Also because I want them to sponsor me, but I mostly like their service.
The traffic was so heavy, I couldn’t even get past the “select your showtime” screen, and trust me; I wasn’t the only one experiencing that problem.
/Yet despite the traffic to sites and apps like Atom and Fandango making it difficult for some to get their tickets, the US was still able to generate 350 million in North America, pretty much making back the budget used to make the film in the first place/ https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/final-avengers-endgame-trailer-advance-ticket-sales-clog-sites-1198761?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fandango_endgame_starwars&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral Endgame - New York Times
Which means that the remainder of the currently accounted for 1 billion 209 million dollars came from international sales. In other news, water is wet.
Also unsurprising, the majority of the foreign sales were from China, not only already making a confirmed 217 million as of me making this video according to Box Office Mojo
/But Disney and Marvel Studios have already estimated that China’s gonna finish off its opening week with 329 million all together/ https://variety.com/2019/film/asia/avengers-endgame-weekend-haul-in-china-1203199721/
*Huffs in irritative frustration*
Oh, shit; my inner socialist is showing *clears throat and puts on happy facade* I mean HOLY CRAP THAT’S AMAZING!
THAT’S ASTOUNDING
MARVELOUS
DARK HORSE COULD NEVER, BITCH
No, seriously, they could never; have you SEEN the Hellboy reboot?
Readers, this is one of those situations for me where just looking at the success of Endgame is kinda bittersweet?
Like, in one hand, yes; I am both surprised and happy for Marvel Studios’ success with Avengers Endgame
1.2 billion in 5 days is not an easily obtainable feat despite there being a buildup of 10+ years worth of continuity
And with this movie along with Captain Marvel, Aquaman and Black Panther before it, there’s proof that superhero movies aren’t really being affected by the burnout that lots of people predicted.
On the other hand, I’d be more supportive and happy with Marvel Studios for this accomplishment if they either did this with their original partnership with Paramount like they did with Phase 1 or even became an independent studio.
As opposed to the company that now owns 40% of Hollywood
(right hand) Being aware of the dangers of multinational corporate conglomerates eating up everything. (left hand) Seeing geek shit thrive and be successful. (Close-up on my frustrated face)
_______
But, I digress, Readers. Your homework assignment for the day; write in the comment section below how YOU initially took the news in finding out that Avengers: Endgame made over 1.2 billion during its opening weekend
Did you have a “holy shit” moment, genuinely surprised, not at all surprised? A mixed bag of feelings like me? I’d love to know your thoughts.
