Readers, when it comes to the news regarding Marvel’s current relationship with James Gunn, I’m just... I-I’m... I’m just tired.
You see, I initially thought that any and all talk about the fallout between Gunn and Disney would end after Warner Brothers and DC swooped him up to do that one-two combo of writing and directing the next Suicide Squad movie
And I say Disney and not Marvel Studios, because it was the executives that were responsible for the decision of letting him go.
/Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney - who like he kinda treated the Kevin Hart hosting the Oscars situation - was pretty much Pontius Pilate washing his hands of the fiasco/ Bob Iger - Hollywood Reporter https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/bob-iger-disneys-streaming-service-james-gunn-star-wars-slowdown-1145493
So despite Marvel Studios having its own head, the end-all-be-all of the decision to let Gunn go was Disney, despite them still using his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
Which was recently confirmed was going to happen...for the umpteenth time
No, seriously; despite Marvel Studios saying for the last year that they’re gonna be using it, even when they halted production on Vol 3 because of all the stupid shit
They felt the need to reiterate that despite firing James Gunn from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, that they’re still going to be using his script.
/The only difference between when they said it months ago versus now, is that when it was quote-unquote revealed to us this past weekend, they also said that the news of James Gunn’s role after Guardians 3 and into Phase 4 was greatly exaggerated/ https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2467352/kevin-feige-clarifies-james-gunns-influence-on-phase-4-and-his-guardians-3-script
This came directly out the mouth of Kevin Feigsdjf,
/saying that because he worked on Guardians Vol 1, 2, portions of Infinity War and 3, that’s the only influence James Gunn has or will have on the MCU/ Marvel - Cinemablend
Now I know what you’re thinking:
But La’Ron, doesn’t that contradict with what we’ve been hearing about his involvement with the MCU since Volume 2 did so well? All this sounds like Marvel Studios trying to do a bit of damage control.
Now see, that’s what I initially thought, too! As a matter of fact, that was initially the angle I was gonna go with while doing the research for this video because whoo-boy does this duck waddle like a fucking duck!
Especially considering Captain Marvel is about to come out and Ronin’s gonna be involved, so one would suspect James Gunn had to have had some influences on the cosmic elements like the earlier reports said.
/After all, Hollywood Reporter has it on record that Kevin and James had constant contact regarding consulting certain cosmic characters that were gonna be part of the MCU from some of the scripts that are currently underway/ Marvel James Gunn - Hollywood Reporter

But that might be all that was. Consulting
/Because while there were definitely talks about James Gunn possibly being the Joss Whedon of the cosmic side of the MCU according to both Kevin and James, according to an interview Vanity Fair had with Gunn during the 10-year celebration they had, nothing was officially set in stone even when he was still on board; everything was just talk./ Marvel - Vanity Fair

So in one hand, Kevin’s statement regarding James’ role in the MCU after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may have some merit to it
On the other hand, Kevin could’ve realized that what James said to Vanity Fair was the perfect out to say that the internet blew what was said out of proportion
And because it’s the internet, technically he wouldn’t be lying about the shit if they decided to call him out on it!
He doesn’t have to be direct in regards to how everything went down because technically the proof is there; it came out of James Gunn’s mouth
It’s brilliant, it’s horrible, it’s strategic as hell, it’s whack as fuck, it’s driving me crazy and I just want to get past all of this MCU drama and watch his fucking Suicide Squad movie, Jesus Fucking Christ!
