Game Spoilers: Personally, I’ve always liked the second game. The story was deeply tragic, and I understood both Ellie and Abby each driven by the need for revenge over the loss of a father or father figure. In the end, they both realized that revenge doesn’t change anything. Abby continued to suffer from nightmares even after killing Joel, but those nightmares only began to fade after she found a new purpose and formed a bond with Lev, stopping WLF, looking for fireflies etc Ellie, on the other hand, lost nearly everyone in her life. But I think, by the end, she was able to forgive herself. One of the main reasons she went after Abby and her group wasn’t just revenge, it was guilt. She had spent years resenting him, and that regret weighed heavily on her, especially because she never got the chance to fully make amends. The night before his death, she told him she was willing to try and forgive him and the next day, (the day he dies) she had even planned to watch a movie with Joel, her first step of making amends In that final moment, when Ellie remembers their last conversation, she’s finally able to let go. She realizes that Joel died knowing she was on the path to forgiving him. And she finally understands his perspective that he would do it all over again, even if it meant his death, because at least Ellie gets to lives. This isn’t just a simple “revenge is bad”story. it’s so much more than that. It’s a reflection on grief, trauma, forgiveness, and the cost of holding on to pain, we side 2 side Abby and Ellie It shows how people are shaped by loss how healing doesn’t come from vengeance but from connection, purpose, and acceptance. Ellie already suffers from PTSD, so killing Abby wouldn’t have changed anything, if anything, it might’ve made things worse. She still would’ve had those flashbacks. It’s just unfortunate that in the game, society has fallen apart. Ellie would benefits with some professional help, like therapy, to process her grief and trauma, but that kind of support isn’t there. (Abby also would of benefited from professional help and maybe Joel would still be here) The game doesn’t offer easy answers it just asks you to sit with the pain and try to understand. That's how I felt after the game ended. I sat with it for a while, thinking about it, and it took me some time to fully accept everything. But now, I finally understand. The game made me cry for both Ellie and Abby. I can’t say who’s right or wrong because if the story had been told from Abby’s point of view, we would have all hated Joel and Ellie. It’s as simple as that. Ellie and Abby are two sides of the same coin. I do wish they kept this as a 3rd and finale game because I love Joel and wanted to see more of him and Ellie bonds before he’s killed, but hey it is, what it is. I also don’t want part 3, I’m happy with this ambiguous ending. I’m excited to see how they do this storyline in the game and if they’re able to make me feel that same feeling in the end

It's funny how during Last of Us 2 game release there was valid criticism which got replied with "you're just an incel" which no doubt there was some dumb comments. But it was valid how people were laughing how unrealistic it would be for Abby to be that jacked without taking steroids during a apocalypse especially when food is being rationed. But yet Neil Druckmann refuses to look for a actress that fits her build for the show. Katy O'Brian is a perfect example who can play Abby. Sheera is right in the ending discussion, basically in S1 there are no spores like others said, it was parasite/virus with tendrils that infect through bites, going to the brain, and the parasite tendrils are spread all over the ground in heavily populated areas, like cities, and the zombies/clickers are all connected through it. I remember the going into the city bit from S1 where they mentioned not to step on those tendrils because it alerts them to you and the clickers come where the tendrils are disturbed... so them cutting the pipeline which had tendrils in them is GG for the settlement. The clickers are going to overrun the place as early as ep 2, prolly.

In s1 I definitely needed time for Bella to grow on me as Ellie and she definitely did by the end but no one can sit here a watch this and believe that a 5 year time skipped happened, she looks barely 5 months older. Ik game vs real life but if they won’t recast or sfx then they need to change the story. “I’m an adult too” bitch you look 12 and for some reason she acts like an entitled 10 year old. In the game Ellie gave determined and hard headed cause she was mirroring Joel but here she gave spoiled, entitled and sorta annoying. I personally really enjoy Dina’s character here than in the game but she too does not look at day over 15. They try to help with the camera work in scenes with different actors but when it’s just Ellie and Dina there small stature is just so noticeable that it makes it even harder for you to believe that there both supposed to be turning 20. Ellie in the game is cunning and smart, that’s how she takes on this big ass brutes and even then she’s leaking with only a few punches. And this Ellie is somehow taking them on with brute force, that training scene could’ve actually been really cool if they tried even the slightest to make it seem feasible 💀

I'd argue Ellie's behavior in the first game was VERY different than in the show. She had confidence and attitude for sure in the game but she wasn't reckless like she often was in season 1. Whenever shit got dangerous in game, Joel told her what to do and she LISTENED until it was necessary to disobey and save his life in the hotel when he finally gave her a gun. In the show she constantly ran off half cocked and acted like she didn't need to be protected by a seasoned survivor who knew what he was doing.

To clarify, the "parasite" y'all saw here were already in season 1. I believe they're called celias or something. In the game, there were none of those but they had spores, particles in the air that can infect you if you breathe it in. The reason the show changed the spores to these parasitic stems is because they wanted to make the show as realistic as possible, meaning if they stuck to the spores and want it realistic, the actors and actresses will have to wear a gas mask in majority of the scenes and no one wants that, people want to see the actor's faces and their performances, can't do that when they're masked up most of the time, so that's why they changed the spores, it also opened a new feature to the infected, through these stems, they create a hive mind and use these to track humans, those stems in pipes are sensing people in Jackson alerting infected which gives a more realistic reason to why a horde suddenly just appeared in Jackson.

I get it, I just never liked that idea to begin with. Almost all Fungi produce spores, including cordyceps; the "fruiting bodies" that you see such as mushrooms or these vines are what releases them, so it makes no sense that we see them but no spores exist. The only fungi I know of that don't produce spores would be yeast, which....ugh 😭could you imagine if the infection in this show was just a global yeast infection.

Yea sheera is right. That fungus in that pipe isn't new. Back in season 1, Tess explained to Ellie that the infected are connected and if you disturb the fungus, it will alert them to your location. So they might get a horde of them like they were predicting.

so far i like what they're doing, I only have a couple of complaints tho, one is that abby looks 14 and if they're going the owen and abby relationshio riute, that's gonna look fucking weird as owen looks like a 30 year old whilel she's 19 and looks ever younger, the first scene of them made me so uncomfortable and I'm hoping they don't do the boat scene. Personally I loved the Bill and Frank episode. I didn't really care enough about Bill in the game to be mad at the change. Plus the first game is a surprisingly straight forward story, like if they removed that episode I honestly don't know what more they could've pulled from to keep the episode count. I'm also of the mind that I don't want to see a perfect 1:1 translation. The first game was perfect and is still there for me to play whenever I want. Surprise me a little. Idk that's just my unwarranted opinion on the matter. I'm looking forward to what they do with the Eugene centric episode.
