Succession 4x9

one last ride

Comments

Can't believe I just noticed this on a rewatch but Logan's tomb has him front and centre and his kids are off to the side in the wall that's crazy.

Jack

Dawns speech gets me every time 😪

Cinmnapple

tf are u talking abt, she stayed with roman to comfort him??

iMovie stars

That slight pause on Lukas' face when he hears Tom is still at work

Ginger Dwarf

Bro Rome says some of the most heinous things ever 😭lock his tick is degenerate comments

GojosHoho

So basically Logan had aura 🤷🏾‍♂️

Mali Howard

That is a very hot take. I’ve cried everytime it’s come to that part. Mostly because I’ve been in Roman’s shoes in thinking you’re okay with someone passing and when it’s time everything comes at you at once and you try and not cry and I think culkian killed it

Mali Howard

He weaseled his way into the top. He'd been trying to backstab Karolina the entire time.

Sekraan

the eulogies + tom's quiet breakdown/grief - i'll cry everytime and i didn't notice on 1st watch that Mattson's look when he heard Tom was still in the office working, great foreshadowing... this show is so good!

B23

That quick pan to Caroline's reaction when Kendall says in the eulogy "He made me and my three siblings" fucking kills me. (between 41:00 and 42:00)

Sekraan

Great moment. "He's flying the plane son."

jerry

Yeah I know grief can do all sorts of things to people, but that part just didn't ring true to me at all.

jerry

Ha love Ruck he did such good work over the course of the series! Meant more in this episode tho

jerry

I feel like Culkin won because of the writing as much as his performance. I think everything is great outside of his delivery of "is he in there, can we take him out." And that's the thing that a lot of people loved the most, but I dunno, it never felt real to me. It was childish in a way that you expect out of a three year old, and not someone that is breaking mentally due to a personal loss and trauma.

Eric

Frank has always made his intentions clear throughout the entire series, and showed his decency the most on the plane. The way he speaks to Kendall as he's spiraling the way he does when he loses control, he grounds him and gives him a way to hold himself together. It's genuinely one of the most caring moments on TV, not just in the show.

Eric

I think that Alan Ruck's performance as Connor is also overlooked and underrated... just like his character, hey-o

Sekraan

Some other thoughts: --You can sort of see the lightbulb go off in Mattsson's head when Shiv mentions that Tom's still grinding away at the office. --I don't know why but the quick sight gag of Kerry's brother killed me, perfect casting. also lmao at Ken totally brushing past Hugo's "Then I am the droid you are looking for" --The scene with Ken with the upturned collar sounding ruthless overlaid with the sinister score, they really had me thinking Ken was going the Michael Corleone route, vanquishing all his enemies but losing his soul and family in the process. Well I guess the second part still kind of came to fruition. --I'm interested in how people interpret Kendall's last look at Logan's mausoleum. "Fuck you" defiance? Regret? A desire to prove himself to his dad's ghost? --It's notable that even though Roman is always awful to him, Frank still tries to extend grace to Rome when Karl tries to share the video. I'm sure someone in his position has buried plenty of bodies throughout his career but he does seem to have a certain kindness and decency about him, relative to the bloodsuckers that surround him.

jerry

I'm generally with the broad consensus in the praise for all apsects of this show but I'll throw in an unpopular opinion that actually is unpopular: I think Culkin's performance was kind of overrated, showy but not particularly compelling or convincing. Incidentally, I felt the same about his recent Oscar-winning performance. In this episode alone, Strong, Snook and James Cromwell (Ewan) all stood out to me more. The part where Ewan talks about how at some point Logan stopped trying, man you could really hear the regret and weight of all the years in his voice.

jerry

They should have put Fuller in the dog cage instead of Roman

LC

Hugo x Ken link and build after the funeral is incredible. “Then I am the droid you’re looking for” “woof woof” lmao

del

He wasn't a good egg, he wasn't a good person that was an asshole, he was a true piece of shit that deserved a bad death. You'd be an insane person to look at someone like Rupert Murdoch and have any sympathy for him, a rich fuck that helped make life worse for minority groups and women.

Eric

i feel for the kids i really do ive gone through so many funerals but let me say this. im glad that maniac is dead no lie lol. im sorry he is just one of those people where i hear his backstory and i dont care anymore at all

Key0

I always cry no matter how many times I see the scene of roman crying @ logan’s funeral. his actor did this scene so well.

Charmaine

Things happen Roman

DarquanJr

Again, in their world everything matters. Rome wasn't able to do the eulogy, and Shiv, instead of stepping up once again pawned the role off on Kendall. She wants to be *the* one, but literally no one sees her in that position including herself. Her only way to move up was to try to backdoor everyone, and after she fucked over her brothers the person she fucked them over for also looked at her lack of experience and figured Empty Suit Tom was the better option.

Eric

Why is it that you think someone who was a garbage person in life suddenly deserves leeway just bc they’re dead? tired of that take it’s dumb.

Christian Acosta

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

Sheera was on point this episode and her noticing the meaning behind the final scene with Rom, outside of their bubble the rich are just people

sol jam

Long live L.roy onb 🕊️

Jonathan

23:58 shiv is such a hypocrite it’s crazy😭 spends the entire last episode saying mencken would destroy democracy only to agree to cozy up to him if made CEO

janelle

Ewan's speech profoundly reveals the deep well of pain that underlies Logan’s cruelty, illustrating just how far the trauma within the Roy family stretches. It’s striking to see that even after Logan’s death, the wounds he inflicted on his children continue to fester. The episode powerfully captures the notion that the scars of his actions endure, lingering long after he’s gone—showing that his influence, for better or worse, is still very much alive.

Pol McGee

🤣🤣

HBK713🏄🏾‍♂️

We're so lucky to have her reacting Sheera is the shit but they're all killing these reactions.

Jamaal Ellison

The look on the mom's face when Kendall credited only Logan for creating them. 😭

Jamaal Ellison

true!

briana

SUCCESSION... CONTENTION...CREATION....LAKERS IN 5 (KEEP UP THE GREAT CONTENT ROSHI)

stiles pulsar

you can say this about every single episode of succession

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Sally-Anne Logan is Roy's actual Brian Cox's Irl wife. Also The Grim Weeper is diabolical. 🤣

Jamaal Ellison

Shit felt like I was at the funeral

MoYo

this ep finally made me understand why kieran swept award season last year for this show lmao deserved

dawn

He knew he'd piss the bed and drank more Pepsi's on purpose. Kevin tried telling people they knew and didn't care. That's always bothered me for some reason.

Jamaal Ellison

I can't believe little Fuller from Home Alone grew up to be such a phenomenal actor. Terrific performance from Kieran Culkin, especially for making me feel bad for someone I would 100% hate in real life.

LC

Damn those people in the comments kicking Roshi's back in summoned an early series finale drop?!😭 Ten days after Logan died his children have potentially destroyed the country perhaps the world all because he wouldn't give them any approval it's kinda biblical.

Jamaal Ellison

i can’t believe sheera really called it at the end there

anna

5 million genuinely isn’t shit to them. Logan sent Roman and Shiv on maneuvers to persuade their mother and his highest number was 50 million. 1 billion alone is an incomprehensible number to the average person and would take most people several lifetimes to burn through if it was completely liquid.

Aaron Posey

So between my own watch of the show and watching with you guys, I still can't tell when Hugo went from just being just the parks communication guy to essentially being the entire group's communications guy. Also, this episode might be the only episode where I didn't hate Rome. Props to Kieran. But yes he did fuck it. Mencken played him.

Sam

Sheera to smart for her own good bro how she guessing that ffs 😂😂😂

cornett0

Nah I'm on Rava's side. Logan smacked tf outta her son and you got a racist ass President up in there like nah lol.

Josh Hargrave

Everyone here’s so cold, I really hope no one shows up to y’all funerals too

Cl4-tp gaming Channel

18:58 Nah, Lupa Greg been moving very correctly. Despite playing every side he still hasn’t completely burned any of his bridges for real. Just last episode he got in Ken and Romes good books by telling them her side deal with Mattson. For someone with absolutely very political or corporate experience or cache he’s still one of the most important information brokers in the show.

Aaron Posey

Yeah, in a show with complicated characters with fluctuating levels of “correctness” Rava has never been in the wrong to my knowledge. It’s all appearances because Logan didn’t give a fuck about them and helped foster an environment that something like this was even possible.

Aaron Posey

Ion think shes tripping about not wanting to go to the funeral we JUST saw that luigi guy kill that ceo. Im sure the entire roy family and those associated have enemies ESPECIALLY kens family. Sadly when politics come to the plate common sense goes. And they All are gonna be at the funeral no matter what type of security there is at the end of the day humans can make mistakes and criminals operate on those mistakes. Thats my thought process about it at least...plus that family sucks. And im not even a dad but i feel ike my Kids go before my dead dad who treated me like shit sorry but ken should be better than his father.

Indifferent Denji

like the subtlety in Lukas when Shiv mentions Tom is at the office working during the funeral

stayhiidrated

This was such a gorgeous and well done episode!

briana

I’m not bringing my kids to their racist POS grandfathers funeral during a very contentious political climate the day after what is essentially a stolen election with the new fascist president elect present. All it takes is one person who doesn’t give a fuck to crash out and get the morgues business boomin’. If the kids want to catch the livestream so be it but I’m getting the fuck out of town. Their safety is my priority, not appearances or appeasing my crazy, narcissist ex-husband. It’s not even like they were close with Logan.

Aaron Posey

one of my favourite episodes and ewan’s eulogy was one of the best scenes. finally got so many answers on logan’s childhood and rose, its so sad. ‘a four year old and a five and a half year old speaking with our eyes’ and the cut to roman and kendall is devastating.

anna

Tom being in the office prioritising the company over the funeral is huge contrast to Ken prioritising Logan's birthday in episode 1. Pretty neat way to mirror the beginning and ending of the snow.

Liliana

Rava is never in the wrong imo 🤷‍♂️ Why would Iverson and Sophie have any investment in Logan's funeral, and why are they obligated to be in the presence of all these horrible old fucks who helped make Menken president, and cultured the climate that makes their daughter feel unsafe? Iverson's biggest interactions with Logan were a soup can to the face and being a poison tester, and he completely ignored Sophie. Kendall is a shit father and Rava has given him so much slack the whole show. If he wasn't so rich he'd have nothing to offer at all.

John Cedar

Kieran earned the fuck out of that Emmy

Carlos
