Now the monsters are not just killing, they're playing with their food, and apparently wanted Boyd specifically to see her die. The creatures aren't the only threat, what about when the bus rocks up and the only way to stop them doing laps is to shoot out the tire, otherwise an entire busload of people deffs would have gotten clapped. Yeah I think the mystery overall is really interesting, the set pieces are great, and there are some standout characters but for most of this season the characters are just dumb and repetitive. I swear in some episodes half the runtime is just them rehashing how shit this situation is. Though I will say I enjoyed S3 a lot more, even if it still had its issues.

Someone mentioned that Jim and his family are annoying (and they are) but Ethan is the most tolerable, and he's the kid. Julie is very impulsive, but it's done so much without growth. not allowing boyd to put the girl out of her misery instantly without excess pain is them being soft, absolutely. Why make her suffer, just because they are hopeful that she can survive? Kristi knows she's dead ("even if we were back in the world, this would be a 15 hour surgery minimum and the sun is going down"), they all know shes dead, (kenny "I have this" *points towards gun*) even if she survived removing the pole, which is incredibly unlikely and would have been extremely painful, she would have died an agonizing death afterwards of infection and who knows what else, And guess what, she died a horrible agonizing death when they could have just instantly ended her suffering and it wouldn't have been "her final moments with a gun barrel pointed towards her head" they should have just comforted her, and allowed boyd to sneak up on her and end her suffering before it could begin.

Unfortunately, the writing in this show is pretty shoddy from this point on. Some characters, like Kristi, just die on the vine. It feels like the plot writers and the episodes/characters writers aren't working closely together. The good news is that the overall plot is still very clever and intriguing throughout, and some of the characters (like Jade and Victor) get even better. I learned to just roll with the billshit logic scenes like this one.

1. Although the brain has no pain receptors, it still pierced her flesh and skin which should still elicit pain. 2. Although you can survive a pole through the skull in certain orientations/locations, the brain has blood vessels and she should have been dead from blood loss/damage at that point. Like Jesus rewatching this episode actually makes me upset. Why not write the scene differently, Boyd tells them to leave, Kenny and Elis force Kristi to leave. Boyd getting ready to end her suffering, talks to Kelly makes her feel more confortable. A scene that comes to mind is the one from Of Mice and Men, George talking to Lennie about getting their own place, letting Lennie's mind focus on something beatiful before killing him.
