It was kind of subtle, but that moment was meant to quickly show in the pilot that Kendall is still in love with her but he did something that can never be taken back, and he struggles with understanding how serious it is to her.

Gerri(Jerri?) was literally trying to help him and he shut her down immediately without even trying to hear her out. Instead of listening to her he thought to go to his coked out private equity "friend" who literally everybody who understands even a little bit about business knows that private equity will fuck you over. He had better chances with the bank and everybody but him acknowledged that.

Logan is someone who only sees strength through the lenses of what attributes he used to get where he is currently. “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” Kendall isn’t that. He was born into power and therefore his strengths aren’t his ruthlessness or inability to treat everyone around him expendable. Unfortunately, like all of the Roy siblings, they want daddy’s approval and will contort themselves and their ideals to fit the mold of someone they believe their father would love and respect which is ultimately only himself. If Logan told the bank to “Fuck off.” it would likely work; he knows how to command a room, throw his weight around and bend others to his will but with Kendall you can tell he’s “weak” because he couldn’t even sit in the uncomfortable silence his words caused and “broke” by asking if the banker was still on the line. His attitude is a facade, a cheap facsimile of the real thing.

This isn’t an instance of some opportunistic, young 20 something latching onto the husk of a powerful man waiting for him to croak. He chose his partner with his faculties in check. The only reason Shiv decided to do this now is because of all the weird occurrences happening in a compressed timeframe. The deterioration of Logan’s mental and physical health, erratic decision making (taking back his duties as acting CEO and chairman), giving Marsha double voting rights and an additional board seat and now barring face to face communication. They are shitty kids for a lot of reasons but not for any of the reasons you listed. They aren’t going to be waiting on their father hand and foot because they all have lives (Kendall was interim CEO, Roman was directly under Logan’s right hand man Frank and Shiv is in politics), he has in-house staff and he would absolutely hate them seeing him in that state because of his misplaced pride.
