DatKid_Kaneki

idk if u know but irs very common most of these bullies are quite literally news reporters, military high officials, celebraties and from rich families. u can search this up theres scandals ALOT bc how common it is

DatKid_Kaneki

He was in Kingdom too and that started in 2019. Really good in that too

GojosHoho

I thought DP was his first KDrama series 🤔. He was good in Parasyte the grey

J Man

What's amazing about this series is how effectively it can go from grim-dark with the bullying stuff, to buddy cop comedy when Ho Yeol shows up. I can imagine this show without Ho Yeol and it'll be hard to watch. That actor deserves credit for providing great comedic timing during dark and "real life" situations (real life in that this is fiction, but this bully crap is for real). Beom Gu even does a good job as the hard nosed buddy cop police chief

Hoyeol plays a big part in THE KINGDOM KDRAMA 🙏🏾🙏🏾 please trio watch 🙏🏾

GojosHoho

mouse kdrama PLEASE

Harry

i feel like bullies in SK dont get punished they can spend their high school/college year ruining someone's life and get away with depending on status I've seen a lot of stories from SK where the victims say the bullies living they best life and don't care about what they did which is really unfortunate

Reckless Company

While a sense of bullying might happen in all military bases around the world, I think there is a clear structural difference between Korea's military compared to somewhere like the US. Soldiers who work in the military in the US are usually respected a lot by all, get paid decently well, and have a very family dynamic within the bases. The bullying you see in the US military is usually done to build and improve soldier's mindsets while bullying in Korea is usually done by superiors who have a power complex, wanting to use their authority for their own benefit. There is a video where (might be a bit wrong) a high-ranked member of the Air Force scolded and voiced his opinion against racism due to a reported incident related to an Asian soldier within the base getting discriminated against due to his race. Things like that will be hard to see in Korea as the higher-ups don't really give a shit. So while there might be bullying in other militaries around the world, the whole approach to how to treat their own men and the way they run the system is drastically different to Korea's military.

Seojun

i think the bullying is also exacerbated by the service being mandatory. cos now you have frustrated young men with a lack of identity who dont want to be there and arent physically or mentally built for it. its kinda impossible for that to function smoothly.

Rosie

surprised at the lack of eomma jokes at the end from you 😂

Rosie

I don't remember it ever being explicitly stated, but Hoyeol not being able to talk was because he got PTSD from last season's finale

RBGTalk

The no speaking thing I’m not sure if this is the case with him but for me every time I got really angry or was about to cry it felt like there was barbed wires around my neck cutting off my voice idk if that’s a good way to put it but that is rlly how it feels so I’m assuming it’s the same thing with him except with he’s own trauma that is why one second he can speak the other he can’t…once again this is my own experience

Michael Kaiser

i can feel the guy with glasses in the church is gonna be a problem

Hwiyeop Kim

i think roshi pretty nailed sheera’s question on the head. SK has a hierarchical societal structure (whether that be age, job position or social status) which enforces strict power dynamics. obviously the bullying in some shows/movies are often dramatized for effect but it’s still a very real problem. DKDKTV on youtube actually has a really eye opening video where they talk D.P’s accuracy and their own experiences in the military/some of the bullying they faced, recommend checking it out after you finish D.P!

Day 54 of my campaign for a Mr Robot reaction.

Josh

So, I THINK the 'no-speaking' thing is a trauma response, right? The nurse suggested that in the previous episode, which I feel cements his character more. He's shown to be smart and charismatic but caring; in an episode in season 1 he told Jun-ho not to be "too empathetic" when he ended up showing the most empathy in the end of that episode. Ho-yul feels things deeply, equally to Jun-ho, and him seeing a person whom he was trying to save shoot himself affected him more so than one would think. I think succeeding in this situation greatly helped though.

Nita - Kento's Widow

Episode 3 might be my favourite, can't wait
