The only thing I'll criticize them for is attacking with their lack of knowledge because even earlier on when Shishigami started his killing spree they mentioned how there were no bullets found in any of the scenes, that should've told you this is something unknown they were dealing with.

As for the Granny and the girl, Hiro was able to heal them before they fully bled out. If you get shot, you will still be alive for a few minutes before you fully succumb to your injuries. Only as long as your heart or brain weren't hit.
