Fair enough. I get him weighing the greater good against his grandson, even if I don’t agree with it. But what annoys me about him is his constant robots are holier than though mentality. He’s sitting across from a robot who’s murdered or at least been accomplice to murder of both human and robot alike, and he’s adamantly saying, “Nah, that’s cap. Robots are incapable of violence and hatred.” Like… that’s actually his own hubris, as a creator of mechanical life and AI, believing everything he’s made is as advanced as it gets and nothing more insidious is possible. This show loves to complicate simple plot points, as well as fabricate some mystique with flash and parlor tricks. Don't overthink it until you make it to the end 😉

I actually re-watched the eps in dub and yeah, totally better. Probably because this series is movie quality and deep. Some characters even have accents that adds flavor to them.

I'm pretty sure this is a case of plot misdirection via dream blending. Gesicht is having dreams of Atom's "birth" mixed up with other personal memories. Atom's message before his death had trace memories of his early life littered in it which makes sense since his life was ending right then and there and it got blended in Gesicht's head like that.

Professor Ochanomizu was doing the right thing imo he knew atom was gonna die when he fought Pluto and didn't want that to happen because atom is one of if not their biggest asset him and Gesicht both have single handedly moved the case along drastically. It was obviously difficult for him but he was trying to prevent the enemy from winning and idk id say that he was right. I know this sounds bad but uran and bobby were there the kid wasn't fully alone at least and even then one kid vs killing someone who could prevent who knows how man other deaths ? it sucks but idk

*mild spoilers* I think one of the absolute highlights of the show is actually in Adolf and Gesicht’s relationship. Media likes to sensationalize and completely dehumanize racists because, well yeah, they’re pieces of shit who don’t deserve the time of day. But what shows and films often get wrong is that racists aren’t simply born evil. They’re made. They’re raised and curated by their circumstances. Adolf saw how robots displaced ‘decent’ working average joes like his dad, the sole parent in his life who clearly cared about his kids. As a young child, Adolf naturally blames a robot for leading to his father’s suicide. It’s not right or accurate, but he’s a kid with no one else around to influence him and tell him otherwise. Instead, all he has is a morally decrepit older brother who loves him dearly and takes care of him, while also filling his head with how robots aren’t only bad, they’re less than human and thus undeserving of pity or empathy or a second thought really. He succeeds in life because of his brother’s sacrifices, which of course lends weight to his brother’ words. Then, as a final nail, Adolf finds out that the supposedly innocent and morally infallible robots everyone else around him loves are in fact fallible, and the best of them brutally murdered his brother. Of course we know (and even he knows) his brother deserved it, but I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t at least partially want the smoke with the person who brutalized their sibling in such a fashion. All this to showcase how even pieces of shit like Adolf truly are the victims in their own story, and when no one else stops to listen to their troubles or see their point of view and correct/guide them, all that’s left for them is ever growing embitterment. Then they flee into the arms of likeminded people, often cults and violent organizations who further radicalize them and take a confused or bad person and turn them downright monstrous. This is pretty much real life for a lot of people even today. It’s crazy, it’s sad, it’s warped. But by Gesicht planting his feet and steadfastly showing him the strength of his character, something Adolf has not allowed himself to be exposed to or confronted by ever before in the past, his heart slowly but surely change.. I understand it’s not a clean or neat analogy for solving racism, obviously, but it is definitely more nuanced than most media these days. By understanding how pieces of shit are created, it enables us to be better prepared when confronting them or working to prevent more of them.
