That mushroom feet must smell like athlete's foot 🤣 I can see why it got axed. It's about raid food in an MMO RPG kinda. Not really a riveting idea on paper and you mix in the concept of consuming creatures you normally don't consume and it's a stretch. This ain't like that one other cooking show I liked where it was a girl working a restaurant in a realm between realms so the customers were always different at certain times. It's called restaurant to another world.

I counted like this because I wanted to show their status before their English license, so you just get the Japanese audience. @Nabi so I mean, I totally get where you're coming from, and I'm not at all trying to make any sort of argument because at the end of the day I don't think it really matters, but comparing the sales for Dungeon Meshi and Frieren is just not a fair way to compare the mangas. Dungeon Meshi published one volume in its first year, Frieren published four, so of course it'd have way higher sales. The base price of manga volumes and the popularity of manga has also significantly increased between Dungeon Meshi's first year and Frieren's first year. I agree with you that Frieren is more popular right now, but using sales as a point of comparison isn't really fair to either manga because there's so many different contributing factors that render those numbers insignificant at face value.

I mean, people say this about alot of shows, but give them time to cook. It's a slow burn, but the manga is one of the best fantasy manga out. ok c'mon now. I like Dungeon Meshi but this is just not correct. Dungeon Meshi is more popular because it's been around for 10 years. If you want to go with sales, Dungeon Meshi had around 300K for its first year, comparing to 2Mil Frieren had for its first year. Edit: "...been around for 10 years-" -and it was one of the more unique one with a consistently good story at its run. And both weren't licensed in English before the sales number I gave you.

@xest Witch Hat is the last of the big fantasy mangas not adapted. That, Frieren, and Dungeon Meshi are basically the holy trinity of current-gen fantasy manga. And yes, Dungeon Meshi is HUGE in Japan (I wouldn't say more than Frieren though). Frieren has more widespread appeal since the story is not as niche

Dungeon Meshi manga is more popular in Japan than frieren by FAR, and dungeon meshi is far more critically acclaimed too LOL. If anything, witch hat and dungeon meshi takes top 1+2 spots in best fantasy and frieren third. Also I forgot to add Isayama personally promoted the manga lol

Not sure how? They're aimed at different audiences so the stories are different for sure, but they're both extremely highly acclaimed fantasy mangas and consistently place at the top of their categories on rating charts (both in the top 10 highest-rated fantasy mangas overall on mangadex).

For anyone that's not sold on the first ep, I highly recommend sticking with it for a bit. It might be a slow start as they set things up, but the manga is very on par with Frieren in being one of the best (non-isekai) fantasy manga out there. Really glad it's getting a full two cours
