I always figured they were watching the official ones, but the video didn't match. It was pretty frustrating.

2024-09-02 13:15:55 +0000 UTCI don't think the editor ever touches the videos they upload on Patreon. They only edit the Youtube videos. It might just be because the video they show on the top right usually don't match up with the versions they actually watch. The ones on the top right are usually from pirated sites just for us the viewer to see (You can see this most of the times as a very faded, very tiny watermark in the bottom-right corner of the top-right video. The watermark is that of an anime pirating website. You can see it on this episode too.), while they usually use official streaming sites to watch anime, and they react to the subtitles on whatever official streaming site they actually watch the show on rather than the unofficial subtitles we see as represented by the top-right video. Might be a legal reason why they have to do it like this. Or maybe it's because streaming sites won't let you download the video and only pirated sites let you download the video. Giving them the only option of showing us the unofficial version they downloaded and embedded into their Youtube/Patreon video for us the audience to view. Anyways, maybe I'm just misunderstanding the OP or missing something.

The people who kidnapped/sold her have connections to Fengming's family and the "merchant family" was what Maomao was listed under. So she got fired because of the business connections her kidnappers had, not because her and Fengming are related.
