Her, Richie, and Ebraheim all have the exact same issue where they’re so scared of change and being left behind that they’re projecting it outwards to everyone else and are making everyone else’s problem to fight back. Also just for her especially its this new comer comes in changing shit and knows OBJECTIVELY more then you do and is trying to tell you what to do, that’ll harp on someone’s insecurity real quick. Not to mention we get to see Carmy’s first big mistake this episode where he absolutely put way too much shit on Sydney’s shoulders way too quick. She comes in wanting to help and change things and he makes her responsible for getting the kitchen in order when they don’t respect her or understand their level of dedication and then he leaves and takes off randomly and doesn’t helpor step in when they insist on being children. He’s got a lot going on but that shits still not ok to do

They had a family unit and the two newbies are the ones that are running things and changing things established by the person that just died. Plus she's used to being the mama of the kitchen in a sense and that's being challenged. She's a hater and wrong a lot but it's explainable and most people can't honestly say they wouldn't feel like she feels in her situation

2023-12-20 00:28:10 +0000 UTCi actually read a really cool article / review about tina and syd’s relationship a couple of months ago. with tina it’s mostly a respect thing, she feels like sydney is condescending even though we know sydney is sincerely trying to help (for example, like when she switched to spanish in the first episode because she assumed it would be easier for tina to understand). she’s also really stubborn and traditional and there’s a power play going on trying to both prove themselves as women in the (professional) kitchen, but in different ways. i really enjoy how their dynamic develops through the show.
