I barely remember if they really go in-depth when they did reveal this in the manga because I don't think they made the reveal until way later about it but with this new anime context scene I don't think it's hurtful to confirm that yes he means it for real and not no "he's father to everyone" metaphor.

What ichibe did during the flashback was seal the ability of yhwachs eyes, however in return he had to trade the soul kings arm (the hand with the eyes in it).

That flashback in the beginning is completely anime original and was not in the manga. It answers a lot of questions, and establishes yhwachs motives well and enhances his character.

Manga readers and anime only are gonna eat good, but manga readers more because that whole beginning scene with the meeting was not in the manga and gave us context on two things that weren't explained very well or not at all in the manga. One being a clearer understanding of Yhawach's motivations on doing what he's doing and the other being how Yhawch got a hold of a certain character who is fighting for him. I can't out right say who for spoilers but for manga readers the hint is "nerves" and you know who I'm talking about. And wow, this is why we cheered on TYBW being uncensored because one of the standout brutalities was the way cloth-Senjumaru got her dome shot clean like that (censored bleach would have just had her shot in her torso) and the way Pernida (the little weird big-headed dude) literally CRUMPELED her corpse like paper. Jesus fuck I remember reading that and being shook with how fucked up that part was.

2023-09-26 00:29:47 +0000 UTCThis Episode is brought to you the namesake of this part: The Separation Those first few mins before jumping back to the present is completely anime original and gave us something that we didn’t get till the end of the manga: Yhwach’s Motive of unifying all the worlds of existence, Life & Death and ending this current world of “deceit” or rather The (S)Xeparation of Reality. What was shown was an ancient past diplomatic meeting between the Quincy King and The Progenitor Soul Reaper Monk Who Calls the Real Name gone wrong. The fact that we got it now along with his signature ability (which shall be named and revealed in the finale) that was taken from him shows that they truly care about fleshing out the source material as much as possible when we’re only about to be halfway through this anime arc, making this one of the best anime adaptations. They’ve been having to sacrifice a lot of fan service comedic gag fluff in the manga and streamline/condense a lot of the dialogue for the sake of the overall tone and appropriate pace for a war to end all of the consecutive back to back action throughout this 2nd invasion of the arc, they know exactly what they’re doing but unfortunately many people are quick to jump to conclusions looking at it from an episodic basis instead of looking at the bigger picture, as if the pacing is out of whack or sacrificing the comedic tone takes away from “the heart of Bleach” while that was certainly a part of OG Bleach, it’s always had this darker and spiritual tone “Less is More, Poetry in Motion”, that’s the true essence of BLEACH. What he did in this episode (one shotting all of the Royal Guard) was what he did in that chapter. In my humble opinion, that is why he got the cover to the manga volume. Oetsu is him!
