The whole sequence of events is supposed to be a roller coaster in order to catch us off guard. It was beautiful sequencing and directing IMO because it did to us exactly what Toji was doing doing to Gojo and Getou, throwing us, or at least most of us, off guard. We were expecting an epic fight to save Kuroi and we get a beach scene following a one sided curb stomping. We were expecting safety in Jujutsu high and we get an ambush. Most never saw Gojo losing, and then it set us up for a happy ending for Riko and then she unceremoniously gets clapped. Y'know it's good story telling when we feel exactly what the main characters feel.

Toji has heavenly restriction (gojo mentioned this when he was fighting him) heavenly restriction is a pact that is placed on someone when they are born (Mechamaru also has heavenly restriction he is the guy that manipulates the robot in S1) so Toji has 0 cursed energy but in exchange he is a superhuman (this explains his speed and strength). Also for those wondering YES this is where Geto's villain arc begins but this is not the full story as to why he is how he is y'all will get more information next episode.

Just my theory, it is probably wrong but it seemed very interesting to think about and make connections: So they need the girl to assimilate with Tengen-sama to keep him alive right? I am pretty sure Tengen-sama was still alive when Geto stole 6 Sukuna fingers from the HQ that he said was protected by Tengen-sama's barriers in Season 1, so my theory is that Toji was hired by Tengen-sama too, so the girl was still absorbed/assimilated by Tengen-sama. idk what the explanation would be for them to have Gojo and Geto keep the girl safe. They had said Tengen-sama specifically asked them to be her bodyguards so I am wondering if the whole point was that he knew they would try to save the girl in the end. You know how both Gojo and Geto kept saying they are the strongest? My only guess would be that the higher ups wanted to show them that they do have people who can fk them up, so they hired Toji to take the girl from them or something. That would also explain how Geto eventually turned into a villain by looking at how fkd up everything is, both the Jujutsu higher-ups and how they do things, and normal people being abusive towards kids with jujutsu abilities, like the 2 sisters in the movie that were locked up in a home-prison and abused by their own family for having jujutsu abilities.
