Ya'll just want them to watch the OG Baki just because. It's a waste of 20 weeks of them watching the OG Baki when they could have just watched the Netflix Baki and understood what's going on and who people are. They'll miss some content that's really not important but they show flashabcks to the important stuff that actually matters in the Netflix Baki

You learn what you need to know in the Netflix Baki. I also wouldn’t even call it cannon material but you can start with the Netflix adaptation of Baki and understand what’s going on without feelings like your missing anything. And then watching damn near 50 episodes of the OG Baki and than watching 51 episodes of all the Baki on Netflix is ridiculous when you can just watch the Netflix Baki and understand what’s going on

It's fine if you want to watch it but you'll be confused for quite some time. most notable character got introduced in the maximum tournament and Baki motivation to fight Yujiro is covered in the early seasons too. You may have to read a wiki or read the comments to understand who is who and why they are significant.

2023-05-30 19:48:45 +0000 UTCAs someone with no interest in watching Baki and close to 0 knowledge about the series, I can see a bit of both sides in this debate. Reaction channels are literally about reacting to something. By skipping 50 episodes of a show you're reacting to (non-filler episodes, I'm assuming), the reaction channel isn't reacting... which, again, is the whole purpose of a reaction channel... to a fairly large chunk of content. If you're a fan of Baki, the series finally wins a poll after previous losses, and you were expecting them to start from the very beginning, I can understand why there might be disappointment. Excluding shows with sequels that focus on a new cast of characters, original Yu-Gi-Oh is the closest series I'm familiar with that has a big chunk of skippable canon content. I never watched "Season 0" as fans call it. On the other hand, if what Mari said is true, the series can still be enjoyed without those 50 episodes... and it sounds like most people support that decision. Roshi would be missing out on some content as a result, but I guess it's not a big deal due to flashbacks and reintroductions? I've heard that a new season comes out soon, so I'm guessing people would rather Roshi get to the new stuff sooner than later. If they were to watch the original 50 episodes first, we'd be waiting 24 - 25 weeks for them to reach the episodes they'll be watching this week (assuming Baki is scheduled for twice a week every week). Having enough time to watch everything would be nice, but there's a limited number of hours each week, so it makes sense to pick and choose the shows / episodes being reacted to. From the POV of an outsider, hearing that Baki has an entire 50-ish episodes of canon material that can be skipped with no consequence unless you want to know about the MC makes me wonder about the source material though. Surely I'm missing context of some sort, because it's weird to hear the argument, "Well, he's the main character, but there's no real need to learn about him. You can skip that part." At the end of the day, although I'm indifferent about this particular series, I'm a bit relieved that a new show will come sooner with those 50 episodes out of the way.
