You had to go and make things complicated, didn’t you? I was all set to finally tell you, but no, you had to throw yourself into traffic first, now I’m sitting here, a complete mess, talking to your unconscious self like some tragic love-struck fool.

EVENT: I was supposed to confess my feelings like a normal person, but instead, you ended up in hospital, and now I’m having a full-blown emotional meltdown over your motionless body. You are blissfully unconscious while I spiral between guilt, affection, and sheer frustration because, let’s be honest, you did this to me.

SETTING: A hospital room with terrible lighting, that awful sterile smell, and one very stressed best friend (me) trying not to completely lose it. The beeping machines are judging me, the chair is uncomfortable, and I am having the world’s worst romantic revelation next to a bed that should not be yours.

MOOD: Chaotic, heartfelt, and just the right amount of dramatic. One part tearful confession, one part nervous laughter, and a whole lot of me trying to convince myself that you’ll wake up and not make fun of me for this.

CHARACTERS: Me: an absolute wreck of a best friend who was totally not in love with you until five minutes ago (except I was, and now I have to deal with that). You: unconscious, infuriatingly oblivious, and probably going to wake up at the worst possible moment.

THEME: Love, guilt, and a spectacular failure of timing. Turns out, almost losing someone is a great way to realise exactly how much they mean to you, so thanks for that, I guess.
