I couldn’t open my eyes. I must have slept so long that my eyelids felt stuck together.

Even though my vision was still blocked, I could clearly feel the warm, soft sensation against my arms.

Come to think of it, I had fallen asleep with Rize yesterday, completely exhausted. It seemed like she was still asleep. She was clinging to me without moving.

“You could’ve woken me up instead of waiting.”

“I couldn’t bring myself to do that. You looked like you were sleeping so peacefully. I guess your time with the vice-captain was quite enjoyable, huh?”

“No, I mean... Are you mad?”

“I’m not angry. I also wanted you to grow closer to the vice-captain.”

Despite what she said, her voice sounded subdued.

She didn’t respond. Instead, she just hugged me tightly with both arms. The disappointment from earlier had completely faded.

I held her close, feeling her warmth, and gently asked, “By the way, what time is it now? Isn’t it about time for training to start?”

“Training is in the afternoon today. You should go back to your room and get ready.”

“Really? That’s a relief.”

If I had some spare time, I was thinking of pulling a harmless prank. A shame I had to let that go.

“I guess I should head out now. If you’re tired, get some more rest. You’re just an aide, so you don’t need to join training.”

Agnes sat up and shook her head.

One of them looked around nervously and tried to escape, but of course, I wasn’t going to let them off that easily.

“I heard everything. Were you trying to eavesdrop on what was happening inside?”

“I told them no, but they insisted… I’ll take responsibility and go now.”
