Needing a rest
Added 2024-04-25 14:00:11 +0000 UTC
I've been training 6 days a week for over 4 years and I'm showing a lot of the signs of overtraining(below),so while I hate to do it, I'm gonna be taking a break from lifting for a week or two to see how it goes, however content will still be rolling, just don't be surprised if I start to gain a little or might even be a bit more shy with photos depending on how I feel about myself over the next few weeks, because I've been cutting the entire time, I don't like gain phases for myself.
But hopefully this lil break helps get things sorted. Thanks for ya'lls support and dont worry, all is well with me, I just wanna get my energy and joy levels back up.
Have a great one and sorry for the wall of text!
Lifestyle-related signs of overtraining
Prolonged general fatigue.
Increase in tension, depression, anger or confusion.
Inability to relax.
Poor-quality sleep.
Lack of energy, decreased motivation, moodiness.
Not feeling joy from things that were once enjoyable.
Put yourself first, we can wait xx

Please do, it could be nice to take the time to game with people and be social in your down time while you recover.

"I worry about not doing it for a while but I've got little choice. "
You make it sound like life and death. Lifting is a hobby, if you don't find it fun anymore, you should either change your approach or find something else to occupy your time. Do you change up your routine regularly?
You said you have a hard time losing bodyfat, why force yourself to stay lean all year round when it's an unrealistic goal? Why not train for strength instead, do heavy compound lifts 3-4 times a week?

Same here. Working out after a long day at work helps me clear my head and let go of all the stress from my day. It's my happy place. You are stronger than you know. The weights will be there when you're ready.

Yeah training is what I do to keep the happy brain chemicals going, so hopefully this goes well.
I hear from everyone that rest really helps reset the fatigue though, so we do what we gotta

Thank you so much Sdsith I really appreciate y'all, continuing the content will mostly be to keep me honest and involved though, a lil documentation for me too as I try this out.
I really appreciate you guys hanging around~

I'm not sure if I will or not, I've just been doing it this way because training makes me feel good mentally, so I may be a tad addicted to it haha.
We will see what I get around to changing when some time has passed though, hopefully rest is the ticket!

Yeah I'll still be doing cardio and lighter stuff like yoga, just no major weight training. Some streaming with the online fam does sound nice tho, I really wanna get back to that for the people and the vibes

Haha Tim I really appreciate that, I'll still be dropping pics of me though, maybe it can act as a good means of documenting and learning for me.
Thank you for the support though, means a lot

It's mostly just my way of fighting back the bad brain bugs, I've never been one for meds or much else as far as outside assistance like supplements, peds, medications etc, so training is just how I've kept myself on track.
I worry about not doing it for a while but I've got little choice.
Here's so hoping~

Yeah, as with all things health related, it’s going to be vague for the group as a whole, and incredibly specific for the individual!

Yeah the muscle memory is what I'm relying on, I hear from just about everyone that it's the way to go and that rest should do me good, so I'm hopeful as heck

The symptoms are very vague and could be tons of things tbh, but without going down the more expensive medical roads, adjusting my training is my best choice to see some recovery.
Let's just hope it's right the first time

Thank you Scott, working out is my feel good medicine, so I'll still be doing the cardio at least, just hope this rest period doesn't affect my mental.
Here's to health and hopefully getting back to the weights very soon!

You have our support. 💯%. Those of us who lift on a regular basis definitely understand what you're going through. I only wish you saw what we see. Your physique is incredible and you have so much to be proud of. Listen to your body and take this time to recharge and re-ignite your passion for fitness. You are so beautiful inside and out.

Take all the time you need! I personally have felt this before and i can agree that taking a couple weeks off will do wonders! Muscle memory is definitely a thing so dont feel too down later about your progress!

Assuming you mean 6 days of heavy lifting, training 6 days a week seems like a bad idea unless you have PEDs to help you recover. And even then I think it's overkill unless you're training for a competition or something.

Relax and do what you gotta do. Maybe take some time to do some gaming streams with the Kit Kat. While you're recovering you could always do light bands, yoga if you really feel like you need minimal movement

6 days on is hard AF let alone for over a year while cutting?!?! Mad props! Curious to hear if you go down in days you workout when you get back to it

Posts like this don't help that tension, inability to relax, or perhaps anxiety. Read the post, read the room.

Thank you for the openness about all of this! You've earned the rest and there's no shame in taking it! We'll all still be here to support you, just as you've been inspiring us! We'll be grateful for the continued content, but know it's OK to break from that too if you're not feeling yourself, up to you. Take what you need and focus on you, and the kitties of course! Sending love, hugs and positive results! "Sorry for the wall of text" too =)

Oof as someone who just started getting back to the gym, I can imagine how hard it must be to have to take an entire week off let alone 2. But it’s also important to listen to your body as well, best of luck!

Take the rest!!!
Go on a mini vacation and treat yourself. I've subbed back in October and you been pumping out content every single day which is insane. Don't worry about your looks 4 years is a long ass time and you deserve a long ass break to compensate.
