The feeling of not really having anything or anyone to keep you going, but not wanting to go out and directly seek death, it’s a horrible spot for shin to be in. He has people to keep him going, but only for the sake of being their reaper when it’s their time to go. Shin has done that favor for years now and that mental anguish has long since caught up to him. That idea of staying on the battlefield just to look for a final resting place is just very haunting, but like most things in this show, it’s done really well
